RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - TechieHippie - 02-20-2024 The AirSense has bilevel therapy up to a difference of 3 (EPR) and it's a very sophisticated machine. You very well may need more than 3, but for now since you have it, you should optimize your settings and see what is happening with OSCAR. Also, realize that treatment is not immediate. You won't always feel the effects right away, especially while fine tuning the settings, finding the right mask fit, etc. Even then, undoing the sleep deprivation and damage takes time. Sleep studies are only one point in time. You can find out a lot by collecting data, importing into OSCAR, and posting the results here. Also, I looked back at page 1 - I don't know why the medical industry thinks AHI 5-8 (in your case) is "not a sleep issue." I feel awful even with AHI close to 5. There is even a big difference between 1 and 2 for me. I think AHI 8 is definitely worth trying to treat. Hang in there. This is tough stuff. But it's worth it. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - robbob2112 - 02-20-2024 Just FYI - when they were doing my overnightt study they started me on cpap, apap, bipap then ASV. Everything but the ASV made my apnea and central's MUCH worse. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - mugen4u - 02-20-2024 thanks for all the information so far. what i still don't understand how a constant air pressure is going to make my CSA events less, i thought those events are caused by a defect in the part of the brain that regulates breathing? @robbob2112 i am sure i have UARS combined with CSA, but that it is mostly the UARS that is causing my symptoms. a normal PSG is not meant for detecting UARS as far as i know. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - robbob2112 - 02-20-2024 So what the Dr explained to me was that the constant air pressure was making my central apnea worse because it tricked the brain into thinking there was no breath needed. It has been a while and I may not remeber correctly so take it with a grain of salt. The same was the issue with the apa and bipap. The ASV works differently by only forcing a breath when the minute vent indicates I am missing one. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - TechieHippie - 02-20-2024 Ah, so in that case maybe that machine won't work... But I've seen so much subtle and important info here that is use the machine to verify and debug in Oscar. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - Sleeprider - 02-20-2024 Well, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, it sure would help to see an Oscar graph of your Airsense 10 in Auto mode with minimum 7, maximum 10 EPR 3. That gives you the maximum EPR at low pressure and allows some increase for obstruction. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - mugen4u - 03-07-2024 is the Resmed AirCurve 10 Vauto better then the airsense 10 autoset when it comes to central events? RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - Sleeprider - 03-07-2024 What the Vauto offers is a setting for inspiratory trigger sensitivity. Many times central events are just very shallow breathing that is less than 30% of normal flow. The Vauto can trigger IPAP with that minimal flow, often stimulating a full spontaneous breath. It also provides better pressure support to get boost spontaneous effort with some PS assistance. RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - mugen4u - 03-07-2024 so it at least does something with central events. cause from what i understand the airsense 10 autoset doesn't do anything with central? i remember some time ago when i had a short treatment with the Lowenstein prisma smart max cpap that i had an average AHI of 3, which is weird if i have central sleep apnea AHI of 7.2 right? RE: Finally had a PSG instead of a PG and the result shocked me - mugen4u - 03-10-2024 so the shipping company lost my resmed airsense 10 and wont refund me the money so i can't buy the device as i am short of money #fml. i guess i have to live with my symptoms forever. recently someone else told me this and i was wondering if that is true: awake/arousal 2.3 times per hour... that's ok, you are sleeping through most CA. av o2 95% ....that's ok. Av desat 93% ...that's ok. longest apnea 33.8, seconds, lowest desat 90% ..that's ok too. No desat under 90%, ..goal is to be 90% and over. yes your sleep is fragmented but it seems like it is not caused by those central events but my something else, do you have daily stress? i don't know if i suffer from stress other then being frustrated every work day due to long drives from and to work in heavy traffic but i doubt that impacts sleep at night. |
