RE: Ultra high AHI with new machine - fede - 02-03-2015 [quote='retired_guy' pid='99352' dateline='1423012943'] Sure looks like we rolled over on our back around 11:30, didn't we? [I guess that is what causes the apneas. Will have to try and stay off the back. Thanks for the review and comments] RE: Ultra high AHI with new machine - quiescence at last - 02-04-2015 You are definitely pegging the bounds of your machine. (when on your back) I love my full face mask, but others have noticed a difference in the amount of pressure needed for apnea control when switching to pillows. I don't know if you have the option to try on a set of pillows, but you might try it if you can. Good luck. When I awake at night I almost always find myself lying on my back and the pressure up at 19-20. I will explore getting a pillow mask.] RE: Ultra high AHI with new machine - PaytonA - 02-04-2015 I do not think that it is time to change masks if you are reasonably happy with your current mask and the leaks are controlled. I would follow R_Gs suggestion and try to stay off your back as much as possible. Do you wake up in the morning on your back? I think that I remember that earlier in this thread you had raised your minimum pressure above 8 and got improved results. If it were me, and there were no other problems, I would raise the minimum pressure slowly. I would make the first increase to 10 cm and leave it there for 4-5 days. If that did not result in any problems, I would raise the minimum pressure by 1 cm every 4-5 days to attain good results without any problems. Sleep well. Best Regards, PaytonA RE: Ultra high AHI with new machine - Sleeprider - 02-04-2015 fede: your graph does not include the leak data, and that would be helpful to know when you hit that pressure limit. Nothing is flagged, so if you're staying out of large leak, your night is looking pretty good except for those two incidents. Bilevel machines offer greater pressure and a higher exhalation pressure relief. I predict that if your pressure stays this high and does not control OA, you are a candidate for a BiPAP. There is nothing wrong with that, and it will be more comfortable, but this is an issue to raise with your DME and doctor if this pattern continues.
