I think whether or not ASV will work well is if you've had lots of Central Apnea. CA combat is what the ASV is made for. Having used it as well I know it can tackle all Apnea except flow limits. And yes it will feel a bit different than other PAPs. Your events are very low with it. You might be able to back off the top pressures as in IPAP by lowering the PS Max some, if it needs to be done that is.

Hey guys,
So I might have posted about this before, but i was looking for a VAUTO machine to try and treat some of my flow limitations to see if it would help feeling better. I ended up buying one for cheap on craiglsist, but it turns out it wasn't a Vauto it was an Aircurve 10 ASV. I've heard Barry Krakow say this is actually better for Flow limitations, and it's worth more so I didn't take it as too bad. The problem is there's a smell to it that's not coming from the tank. I used my old tank and my face mask and hose, but the machine still smells. It's not bad, but it just smells like what i bet the person's house smelt like.
Is there anyway to get a smell out of a machine? I don't want to break it!

I have used Ozium to clear the odor from machines that were in a smoking household. Spray some on a cotton ball or filter, turn the machine on and let the fumes be drawn into the machine. Discard the filter or cotton ball and the odor should be gone. Ozium commonly found at Walmart or auto parts stores is commonly used for deodorizing vehicles.

Do keep in mind that the principal an ASV operates on is completely different than that of a CPAP,APAP, or BiLevel(VAuto)

Yes, I've tried it before already and I don't think I had the stats right.
I think I'm going to lower the PS to only stay at 3 and 4 and try to get it to work like a Vauto. Is this possible?
I want a Vauto but with my ahi numbers I don't think I'll be able to get one.

Where is your OSCAR data?
Pre your stated pressure and what you want.
Mode Auto (not 'for Her')
Pressure = 7 - 15 (the Max should not come into play)
EPR = 3
In Vauto Terms
Min EPAP = 4
Max IPAP = 15
PS = 3

Note that the ASV has limits on how low PS Max can be versus PS Min. It will force a spread of 5 between these 2 settings.
Note 2, others that use this ResMed ASV have had flow limits still. I tend to be the exception, as there was questioning about my claim to have had 0 FL. And that was only during one specific OSCAR chart on one day. Personal opinion I think you'd be better served with the VAuto.
This ASV has CPAP mode, static one pressure.
ASV is one EPAP number then PS Min/Max.
ASV Auto gives EPAP Min/Max and PS Min/Max which effectively give IPAP Min/Max without directly setting IPAP.

If you are handy, you can take the machine apart and clean it. That is really the only way I've been able to get the odor out of a machine.

Inaccurate Insp. Time and Exp. Time with Airfit F20 mask and Airsense 10 - modest811 - 12-27-2021
Think I discovered a bug in Oscar and I've been doing some detective work on the board here to confirm. It seems many unknowingly have the same issue.
Basically if you're using in F20 mask on an Airsense 10, your Inspiration time is going to record higher than your Exp time when that is likely not the case. Usually a insp time higher than a Ex means you have significant flow limitation, but as you can see below, I do not.
I tried using a dreamwear full face mask and the insp time was correctly calculated. I don't know if it's just harder to pick it up with the mask or what, but something I think should be flagged for people looking out for these things.
Below is a picture of my stats with F20 and the second is the next night with a dreamwear full face mask The difference is apparent, but had a similar AHI.
