It's possible and very easy to do if you are overly tired. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-20-2022 Went to my sleep doc today. Had an interesting conversation. Talked about my AHI, he said that the machine wont see or report all the hypopneas that are really taking place. The number really much higher then the machine says it is. He took me through the flow rate on my Oscar software (I took my computer with me) and showed me a bunch the machine did not catch. I asked him about this being a old machine and I wondered if the newer air curve 10 Vauto would better. He says he sees this in new machines as well. Any thoughts in that? RE: Air in my stomach - Sleepster - 10-20-2022 You'd have to tell us just what the doctor sees that makes him think hypopneas are underreported by CPAP machines. RE: Air in my stomach - Gideon - 10-20-2022 I would raise the issue of your Dreamstation with your doctor. Earlier you said it was under recall, ask if since it hasn't yet been replaced if he could provide a script for a new device prescription (ResMed AutoSet) considering its age. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-20-2022 I already have a 10 Vauto coming. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 10-21-2022 He showed me things in passing, he did not train me on what they look like. ( I only had a few mins with him) Does what he said sound strange? Do these machines under report on a regular basis? What he showed me looked something like you see on this the below chart. But since I am really untrained and dont really know what I am looking at I will say it looked something like this. I am just trying to learn and survive day by day for now. RE: Air in my stomach - pholynyk - 10-21-2022 My guess is that was a sneeze or a cough. A big inhale, no exhale through the mask, and then a lot of recovery. Nothing took more than ten seconds, so no 'event'. An apnea must last ten seconds to be counted, and a hyponea must be a reduction from the previous breathing pattern of 50%. The machine's definition is somewhat fuzzy; the oficial defintion is as follows: Hypopnea is defined as reduction in ventilation of at least 50% that results in a decrease in arterial saturation of 4% or more due to partial airway obstruction. The machine doesn't have an SpO2 sensor, of course, so it approximates. It is still useful information. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 11-23-2022 Hello, my air 10 Vauto is here The docs prescription Had the DME set it from 17 to 21 on the pressures. I’m sitting at 9 on my old dream station because I have not been able to take above 9 (18 is my normal pressure) without getting air in my stomach. I need to start learning about how do I adjust and set up this new machine myself. So is there a resource that is easy to learn from I can start studying? RE: Air in my stomach - Sleepster - 11-23-2022 You have to learn what settings are best for you by trial and error. You will need OSCAR software to do that. Your Dream Station was set at 9 cm of pressure because anything above that gave you aerophagia? I suggest you set your VAUTO to a minEPAP of 6.0 cm, a maxIPAP of 11.0 cm, and a PS of 4.0 cm. Then see how you feel and what your OSCAR data shows. Turn the ramp off. RE: Air in my stomach - Old Bert - 11-24-2022 Yes I set my dream station to 9 if I went to 10 I got air in the stomach. Ok I will set it for 9-11... |
