Why nosebleed - ozartblue - 06-29-2015
Can using CPAP machine cause nose bleed? I sometime have problems with partially blocked nose and the machine is great. This problem has only started a couple of weeks ago and it's not a big deal, but I wonder if anyone has similar problems. Thanks you

I'm not an expert, but increasing humidity first thing come to mind, hose cover, and saline sinus rinse before bedtime
Talk with your GP or seeing ENT may not be a bad idea either
Which mask are you using? profile list, mask type/make & model ... "nasal pillows" and "Mirage Activa". Activa is a nasal mask
Full face mask is worth a try as you can breathe through your mouth and give the nose some time to heal

Agree with all that zonk said, but it wouldn't hurt to see your ENT.
Be sure you are getting enough humidity too.

I have had occasional nosebleeds in the past, which are a real bother, as I take coumadin and it is difficult to stop the bleeding once it starts. Not a genuine medical emergency, but ... persistent. I agree on saline spray, which is a good deterrent. Also increasing the humidifier a notch. Lately, however, following a decrease in pressure from 26/19 to 20/12, I have had no bleeding issues at all.

Turn your humidity up a notch and see if that helps you.
Edit: or, if you find that doesn't work, turn it back a couple notches. Sometime, as odd as this may sound, too much humidity will give you problems as well.
Hang in there for more suggestions and good luck to you with getting this problem straightened out, its a trial and error thing.

My sleep doc and my ENT recommended swabbing the nasal passages with bacitracin in order to keep the surface well lubricated, if turning up the humidity heat didn't solve the dry nose issue.

I'd be cautious with using Bacitracin with the antibiotic properties and zinc long term. I would consider using something like Coconut oil if all you need is a moisturizer and oil barrier.

Also, on the bacitracin advice, I believe most are in a petroleum base, which is a no-no for anywhere near your airway.

According to my docs Bacitracin is NOT petroleum based; thus it's safe to use in your nasal passages. Vaseline is petroleum based and should never be used inside the body.
