Is there a way to make the CPAP machine continue to blow even when I'm not using it? - Simfish - 09-25-2015

I'd just like to let it continually run for the first few days, to help clear out the "plastic" smell I get from it (as it's new)

My model is an Airsense 10.

Welcome Simfish,

Welcome

To answer your question; Yes, just make sure that you have the Smart-Start feature turned off. You can then just press the start button and it will continue to run until you turn it off. . . Just remember that this will skew your sleep/usage data. (If that's a concern)

With the S9, and I am sure they continued it with the A10, if the machine was on but no one was connected, the time did not count toward compliance hours but did count toward machine hours.

Many of use turn it on this way to dry out hoses.

To get out the plastic smell from everything washable, use a very mild solution of vinegar and water. Just fill up the sink, put in a bit of vinegar, and let it all soak a bit. Rinse very well and let air dry. This is what I do with my new mask parts and the like.

Dielaughing Paula: LOL... I think you should be clear as to what "everything washable" means. The OP was asking about the actual machine -- hate to see that get washed.

I'm glad to know I can use this to dry my hose! I've been hanging it, but there's still water droplets in it at bedtime.

That smell drove me crazy, surprisingly. Made me feel like I was in a hospital, which is where I'd end up if I didn't treat this!

How much vinegar would you say makes a mild solution?

If you really want to keep it running you might use the MASK FIT option. That shouldn't affect your sleep record.
