Chris Carlile - Chris Carlile - 05-28-2016 What are the events the program is referring to on my report screen "events per hour"? Someone told me this does not refer to breathing stoppages. Mine have been in the 15-18 range lately after being 3-6 when I first got the machine about six months ago. Thanks for any help. RE: Chris Carlile - chill - 05-28-2016 Hi Chris, Welcome to the Apnea Board! You can find a brief explanation on the wiki: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Apnea_hypopnea_index_(AHI) The event may include hypopneas which are not a total cessation of breathing: http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hypopneas That does not mean they are harmless. Your recently higher index suggests that something has changed. If you download SleepyHead (link at top of this page) you can post some details for us to look at. ResScan may do this too, I am not familiar with that software. Here are some useful links on posting data. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=SleepyHead_Chart_Organization#Use_F12_to_Take_a_Screenshot http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Attaching_Images_and_Files_on_Apnea_Board RE: Chris Carlile - zonk - 05-28-2016 Events per hour is AHI for that particular day ( noon to noon), include obstructive, hypopnea, central events, also include unknown apnea if large leak detected and the machine cannot tell the type of event, whether obstructive or central Keep in mind, the machine doesn't know if you're awake or asleep when scoring the events, awake events are scored but are meaningless and shouldn't be taken into account The events per hour would be the same as AHI further down the sleep report but will need to set the "period" to "1 Day" to view the rest of data for the previous day. AHI Below 5 is something to aim for but not so crucial right now, as you get adjusted to the therapy with few things tweaked and comfortable with mask, things begins to improve As for the title of the thread, please take a moment and read the first post http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-How-to-Start-a-New-Thread-with-the-Right-Subject-Line?pid=124205#pid124205 RE: Chris Carlile - trish6hundred - 05-30-2016 Hi Chris Carlile, WELCOME!to the forum.! Much success to you with your CPAP therapy. Hang in there for more responses to your post. RE: Chris Carlile - Chris Carlile - 05-30-2016 Thanks everyone for your replies. My events per hour had been high and I was concerned. I now understand what they are. I also read elsewhere that sleep aids can cause this so I stopped them an my eph the first nite was 6 and last nite was 2.8, so it looks like I'm on the right track. Chill apologies for listing my name for the subject first time user and you know about guys and directions!! Btw I've been on a cpap since about 2000. This new one is my third machine and is the first that gives you all the data. I really like it. Again thanks to all who replied your responses were spot on! RE: Chris Carlile - player - 05-31-2016 Did you get the free Sleepyhead program? It will really help. |
