First month of CPAP usage, help with the logs - Bravo - 07-18-2016

Hi there.
I'm 34 and after going trough what almost all of us experienced, i ended up sleeping with my new cpap machine. It made me wonders, i feel like new. But, after 1 month of usage i think i'm having more mask leaks than i should.
Also, can i have some help interpreting these values?
Thanks in advance

The last time you used your Philips Respironics RemStar Auto with A-Flex...
was last night
You had an AHI of 1.96, which is considered reasonably good
You machine was on for 8 hours, 41 minutes and 29 seconds.
Your mask is leaking way too much.. Talk to your CPAP advisor.
Your pressure was under 12cmH2O for 95% of the time.

I would post some screenshots but i'm not allowed just yet.

Thank you so much Smile
This "thing" gave back my life...
I had to stop working because i was falling asleep during work, driving.
Now i'm so much better...
When i was diagnosed, i had 90+ breath stoppings per hour, for more than 10secs each.
I'm struggling to interpret the data from the machine... I don't understand the terms used on the Sleepyhead program...
I think i just need someone to tell me if i'm doing good, despite the mask leaking...
Too bad i can't post pictures. Would make the job easier.

Hi Bravo and Welcome!

Your numbers all look good, except for the mask leaks. If you can figure out exactly what kind of mask you have (company name and mask name), someone who has used it can help with the leaks. It may also be that you need to try a different mask. Is your mouth dry in the morning? The air might be leaking out through your mouth, which is a different problem to solve.

A few more posts and you can post pictures. While you are waiting for that, uyou can upload them to imagur or a similar site and post part of the link here (leave off the http://, we can figure the out)

Hello Smile
Thanks for your reply.
I'm having some trouble with the mask leaking. It seems to not adjust properly to my face. Like it's too small...
Its a Resmed Quattro...
I'm waking up with my mouth dry, yes.
And yesterday for the first time since treatment, i've awaken very sleepy. I fell asleep on the computer right after. No good.

Any hints on how to adjust the mask?
I've been progressively tighten up the rubber bands, to the point i would wake up with them well marked on my face. Although, i was feeling i was having more leaks that way, so i losen it...
And if i tighten too much on the upper level, the contact of the mask in my face will be worst on the lower part, and vice versa...
I wish there was a good way to set it up...

G'day Bravo, welcome to Apnea Board.

The mask is the hardest part of the whole CPAP experience, and many people need to try several before they get the right one. Every face is different, which is why there are so many different masks on the market. They also come in different sizes, so it's possible you have the smaller version of the Quattro.

You can also use mask liners (Google Pad-a-cheek or Remzz) which help the mask rest more comfortably against the skin.

Bravo, your numbers look good, but the mask leaking should not be ignored.
Finding the right mask is the hardest part of therapy. Some things to try....mask liners. A lot of folk have had luck using liners. Check some of the online suppliers.
Don't over tighten straps, that doesn't help with leaks and can cause discomfort instead.

You can post screenshots after 4 posts. It is easier to use an outside source like imgur to upload here.

Thank you so much. You are all helping me a lot.

In my case, the machine & mask are supplied for free by the healthcare, and just for now i can't switch the mask... But as soon as it's possible, i will ask them to replace it.
