Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleepyv - 04-06-2017 I have been on Bipap for 16 months. I can tolerate therapy and my AHI is good. Last night AHI 1. but am still tired most days never really feel refreshed, no health problems and see my Sleep Dr regularly. They say Im doing great. I now see his Physicians assistant. Going tomorrow. I notice I wake up frequently heavy rapid breathing. Its while Im in REM I think because I'm dreaming. Anyone else have this problem. Im going to download sleepy head and post, any input will be appreciated. Thank you Sleepyv RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Marillion - 04-06-2017 Posting your data from Sleepyhead is the best move you can make. Please see the links below in my signature and organize your data as it describes in the info. Don't worry, you'll get the help you need here! RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleep2Snore - 04-06-2017 Could be a slight panic attack, or it might be that you didn't get quite the right amount of air at the right time. Ask when you see them. They should be able to look at your data (if you have a card in the machine) most have data cards these days. Take the data card with you when you go. Going tomorrow. my guesses are that you could be dreaming something that stresses you and the breathing increased but doesnt it also happen after a CA or longer hypopnea type event to bring the oxygen level back up my pulseox went down to 82 and my heart rate up to 172 at the extremes maybe if the heart cant pump faster the breathing rate goes up too get get enough oxygen to send to the body although i dont recall my max RR being that high. not sure if they measured that and reported it or not. RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleepyv - 04-06-2017 Here is my last night Sleepyhead results. Please look when I woke up thats when I had the heavy breathing arounds 7 hours, other than that I never woke. http://imgur.com/a/HAKtZ RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleeprider - 04-06-2017 Nice machine (I have the same one) and your data looks pretty good, but room for improvement. If I may, a couple suggestions for the chart. Minimize the monthly calendar by clicking the triangle in the date line, and turn off the pie chart in the menu at File/Preferences/Appearance/ and uncheck the pie chart on the right side. You may want to turn off VS2 in the File/Preference/Events. VS2 is not a very meaningful metric. Settings: turn off ramp or shorten time to 10 minutes. There is no OA, so EPAP min is okay. Increase IPAP max to 13.0, PS min to 3.0. These settings should help with flow limitations and hypopnea which is pretty much all you have going on. With the chart changes, we can take a look at your tidal and minute volumes and other data that is now hidden. Heavy breathing is all relative. My flow rate frequently crosses the 48 mL line and reaches 80 mL which would be off your chart. What is normal for tidal volume varies widely and is normally based on your size. RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleepyv - 04-06-2017 Thank you Sleeprider. I will make changes and repost. Sleepyv RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleepyv - 04-08-2017 http://imgur.com/a/vw8Tu Here is the sleepyhead report with new changes. Please tell what you think. Thanks, Sleepyv RE: Waking up with heavy rapid breathing. - Sleeprider - 04-08-2017 Flow limitations are reduced, but CA and hypopnea are up a bit. Can you tell me what the tidal volume was for the previous data on 4/5/17? This latest graph shows a Tv of 300 mL. at 16.8 breaths/min and minute vent of 5.25 L/min. That is relatively shallow breathing. Do you have any pulmonary conditions? I don't have any breathing problems. I did feel pretty tired today and think I woke several time last night. |
