Changing Sleepyhead & ResScan to a new Laptop - pjfollyfarm - 06-07-2017
Hi Everyone,
Not much of a contributor to the forum these days, but I thought I would post this for general info.
My old Windows 7 laptop was on its last legs, so I finally went out and bought a new one with Windows 10. As many of you will know, it is such a pain to set up a new computer, capturing all the things you want transferred but not causing too much clutter. At least the old one had not died first this time.
Just a little bit of feed back on Setting up & copying Sleepyhead and ResScan to the new laptop.
First Sleepyhead. I just visited the JediMark link and downloaded a new version. It installed first time and I was able to find the location on my old machine where all the profile & data was stored and copy it over. Everything was fairly simple and worked well. My last installation on Windows 7 was very problematic and I ended up having to use a "broken gl" version (whatever that means). I also was unable to print or pdf graphs and reports properly when mean I really only used it very personal reviews. The new version prints perfectly so I should be able to use it for my Sleep Specialist rather than ResScan that I have used previously. Only thing I have not yet done is download new data from my machine. Waiting on a usb SD card reader so I can do that. Fingers crossed.
I downloaded a newer version of ResScan, just to have a backup program & to preserve my prior records. It installed and set up without problem, but it was more of a mystery tour to find where they had squirrelled away my previous patient data, which included all the downloads from my CPAP machine. Once copied to the new computer, it too works fine, albeit much slower and clunkier than Sleepyhead.

Good to hear the change-over went reasonably smoothly. SWMBO has Win10 on her laptop and I hate it - I'm hanging on to Win7 on my own computer like grim death.
By the way, the ResScan data on a Win7 machine is located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\ResMed\ResScan3\Patients\Surname,Firstname At least, that's the default address it put everything on my computer.

Many thanks Deep Breathing. Your ResScan directions are absolutlely correct. That is where I found my stuff. I am not finding Windows 10 too bad, but I suspect like you I hate change for the sake of change........

an off-topic comment, if the only reason you hate Windows 10 is the look (shell) than you can install Classicshell. It's free and makes your desktop appear and behave just like Windows 7. Start menu and all yet still gives you access to the new desktop and apps. You can easily switch between the two if you like. Only way I would run Windows 10.

BTW: In that path: C:\Users\Public\Documents\ResMed\ResScan3\Patients\Surname,Firstname
The 3 is the version number. It may change depending on version.

Yeah, not too far apart - I'm in the northern suburbs. SWMBO has often talked about getting a place up your way but as we get older reality sets in and our next move will be a downsize into an apartment, not a property in the hills.
