Can i disable my H5i humdifier? - y01y - 10-23-2017

I was currently using a combination of Resmed S9 and H5i with a heated cord.

The H5i has stopped working, and i can not afford to replace it at this time.

Unfortunately, the unit works for about 5-10 seconds and then gives the error "humidifier fault - replace humidifier"

The heated hose will not fit on the blower unit.
I have the humidity/temp set to off.

It used to work again by simply unplugging and restarting, but now it does not work.

I would like to figure out how to disable the humidifier somehow so i can still use the unit.

Thanks Owen

You need an unheated hose that will connect directly to the S9.

You can get them on Amazon fairly cheaply

So quick update.

I took the H5i apart to see if i could see anything was obviously wrong.

I unplugged the connector to the heater element, and restarted the machine.

I got a new error "Replace heater element"

So i figure, Hmmmm, i'd put it back together again and try to get some sleep.

Well it appears to be working?????? With the heater functioning? Im a little baffled but we will see if it stays that way.

Ill follow up tomorrow and will try the same on my first H5i that malfunctioned.

Thanks Owen

Well no luck, its only was red for and then quit not soon after.

But it took it apart again and removed both connectors from the circuit board and reassembled.

It now works, and i can still keep the water reservoir in and get some humidity.

Hope this can help someone else if the have this issue.

It does make me wonder if you can replace the heating element?

Owen

Owen, Supplier #2 will sell the H5i humidifier for $90 and ships internationally. You seem to be making this harder than necessary.

Thanks that is a really good price.

I now have two broken H5i that are out of warranty, so i had no problem experimenting.

Probably because i have trouble getting distilled water in the rural area that i live.

I have never used distilled water and never had a malfunction. Be careful of the connectors.

Ditch the H5 and buy a cheap, non-heated hose online?

That would seem to be the easiest way.
