Facial hair and CPAP! - TimtheEnchanter - 11-02-2017 I am considering the unthinkable, shaving off my goatee. Do you think facial hair impairs CPAP success?? I am using one mask - newbie and never tried anything else (now considering Amara View) RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - KSMatthew - 11-02-2017 One word -"Nasal Pillows" RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - TimtheEnchanter - 11-02-2017 I am not ready to wire my mouth shut.... RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Gary1of2 - 11-02-2017 Try posting some sleepyhead data so we cans see how much leaks and what is going on. RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Walla Walla - 11-02-2017 If you get the right mask it shouldn't be a problem. I know the top mask advisor here has a beard and uses the Amara View. Check this link out. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mask_Primer RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - TimtheEnchanter - 11-02-2017 OK, here is about 21 days with the same mask. RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Walla Walla - 11-02-2017 Yep you have leaks. You also could probably bump your min pressure up one. RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Kryogen - 11-02-2017 my mask leaks like hell when I have facial hair. RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Gideon - 11-02-2017 Read the Mask Primer. It contains a suggested strategy for masks. In general try from least intrusive to most intrusive. Many find that the pressure of CPAP converts them from Mouth Breather to a nose breather just from use. But there are many ways to manage mouth breathing. I was a notorious mouth breather, I got the Amara View to handle that. You have to patient with that mask because it is a loose fit mask. It is my backup full face mask at the moment. My primary mask is the ResMed P10 Pillows. Fred Someone said I have a beard, and I have been mistaken for a jolly old elf. RE: Facial hair and CPAP! - Ghost1958 - 11-02-2017 Used a Simplus with a Santa beard for a long time. No large leak problems. Simplus is NOT a glide on cushion of air mask. Wet your beard slightly and snug the bottom straps up a little bit. Your leaks should be no higher than if you were using a liner. |
