Fisher&Paykal SleepStyle200 HC254JHU If I buy used, do I have to get a professional - Previa777 - 03-06-2018

If I buy a used Fisher&Paykal SleepStyle200 HC254JHU do I have to get it adjusted by a Professional?
My prescription says "Auto N CPAP @5-15 CM H2"
My present machine (the same model as above) stopped working because of the on/off switch.

No, you do not. You can adjust it yourself. Go here and scroll down to Section 3 to see how to get the clinician manual for your machine.

Good luck as you continue CPAP therapy.

As noted above yes you can adjust that machine yourself.

I will state that the machine we recommend is the ResMed APAP, specifically the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet.

With this device and SleepyHead (free) software you have access to detailed data all the way down to a breath by breath basis when needed.

The machine you are looking at, is at least 2-generations old and is no longer sold.  You will be getting a machine that makes it impossible to monitor your efficacy, will not be supported by warranty, and which few people on this forum are familiar with.  It better be close to free considering the age, otherwise you should pass.

Responding to a PM from the OP

Quote:Hi ,

Thanks again for responding to my post about buying a used Fisher&Paykal.

A friend suggested either  ResMed Airsense 10 or Respironic DreamStation.

Are you able to give me an opinion on what I could look for please?

Thanks, Tom.
Tom, I'm posting here because if I misspeak my peers will correct me and others will learn.

As I indicated it is the Opinion of many in this forum that the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet or the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her is/are the best for treatment.

You have indicated that you want an Auto CPAP previously.  The ResMed responds faster to events which will cause Apnea and will adequately respond over a greater range than the Respironics Dream Station Auto CPAP.  Both AirSense and DreamStation indicate a range of products, not a single product, and some of them are what we call "Bricks" with no detailed data capability.

It is thru data that we, you, your Doctor are able to see what is going on, and it does mostly come down to we and you.  Data gives us the ability to see, on a breath by breath basis if needed what is going on and the ResMed and (free) Sleepyhead software make a great combination.  The DreamStation Auto CPAP is an excellent machine but many here feel the AutoSet is better.

I assume that you need to do this without insurance and if so I'll let others respond to the current deals that are available.

There are many links in my signature that contain a great deal of information and I do suggest that you read them.

Please ask any further questions here.

Fred

Yes How kind to advise me/us.  Thanks!

Reaching out for a great price on ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

Note I am a guy but like the White “For Her” machine.  There is no problem with that choice for a Guy?

current price on the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for her on Amazon is $680, but it has recently been $100 less. The best way to get a low-price deal is to put a watch on an Amazon item using "JoinHoney" they track prices and email an alert when prices drop. I would hold out for $577 on that item and request an alert for prices less than $580.

Today I got a printer that has been over $350 for a long time for $179 using the Joinhoney app. It works, well and has saved me some pretty good money.
