Newbie - can't install Sleepyhead - SteveZ - 03-10-2018

1 week in with using CPAP (RESMED Airsense 10 autoset).
I'm trying to install Sleepyhead on my x64 Windows 10 PC.

As soon as the self-extracting install file starts...after roughly 5 seconds, I get a Windows box:
SleepyHead-1.0.0-beta-2-Snapshot-Win32-O......exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

This happens whether I hit the Next icon or not. Oh-jeez

I notice it is the 1.0.0-beta-2-Snapshot-Win32 version that is being downloaded to my PC

Help?  ANybody know what Ihave to do to get the installation to work?
Tx  in advance!!

You might want to check your anti-virus to see if it's blocking the install.

A few things to try:
  1. Verify the SHA1 hash.
  2. Disable any anti-virus.
  3. Run the install as administrator.
  4. Try installing SleepyHead in your My Documents folder (if you aren't)
I hope one of these will work for you.

If your anti-virus has a ransomware or similar, then check the logs to see if it is blocking it from accessing the documents folder. That happens to me a lot.

Thank you for the initial responses!
i disabled my antivirus and launched install .exe as admin. NO LUCK!
Literally, about 5 seconds after launching the .exe it gives the microsoft error message. Even if I don't hit Next button.

I don't know how to "verify SHA1 hash".
I've downloaded the file (.exe) 3 times....still get the same crash trying to execute the install.

Any other ideas??
Tx

The SHA1 value is listed below each SleepyHead  OS version. I am listing it here as well.
SHA1:
b6bcef3b28a88d80d474224861c8ab57e20bcf63

As far as checking the hash, here is a free program to check it.
MD5 and SHA Checksum Utility

After 3 tries I don't expect you will find any problem though.

I'll keep thinking about your problem, . . .Another thought; After you attempt an install, look in your event viewer administrator listing. This may point you to the problem. I'm on my Linux box and I don't have the correct verbiage of the listing. - Sorry!

Crimson Nape...you gave me the right clues!!!
Investigated Windows event viewer and found there was a conflict with another program on my PC (Raptr...a gaming environment my 10 year old uses...which is not GONE!) Uninstalled the other program and now SpeepyHead works just fine!!

Much thanks to all for the great help!
now...onto using SleepyHead!

What a great suggestion!
