Dirty filters - trickyneedsleep - 09-14-2018 Whenever my throat gets dry and I wake up in the middle of the night I know that the filters are dirty. I just recently changed my filters and within a matter of 3 days the filter the micro filter was black. Why in the world do my filters go black or dirty so quickly? RE: Dirty filters - Coffee Man - 09-14-2018 The air that passes through the filter comes from the air in your environment (home). They would get dirtier due to dust, pollen, smoke. The more of that stuff in the air, the more quickly the filter would discolor. RE: Dirty filters - OpalRose - 09-14-2018 Although insurance allows you two micro fine filters per month, they should not have to be changed that often, nor should the filter be turning black within 3 days. I normally change the fine filter in my Cpap once a month, and I notice it is slightly gray. How is the air quality in your home? How often do you change the air filter in your furnace? RE: Dirty filters - ardenum - 09-14-2018 either some smoke from the heater or really nasty mold RE: Dirty filters - silentsnore - 09-14-2018 Duct cleaning anyone? RE: Dirty filters - SarcasticDave94 - 09-14-2018 It does sound like a room air quality situation. Maybe you'll need a room air filter. I have to run one in the bedroom to get dog hair and other larger particles filtered out of the air. FWIW I've got a squat filter/fan from Oreck that someone gave me. Looks like it's called Oreck XL Pro. The ASV filter rarely gets dirty in this scenario, but I change it um uh I think monthly. Probably I do that when I wash the parts. RE: Dirty filters - mesenteria - 09-14-2018 Is it at all possible they're gray market or bogus goods? If they are badly discoloured in only three days, the house's ventilation system is exceedingly dirty, the house floors are exceedingly dirty, or the local air is heavily polluted. Or, the filters are either exceedingly efficient (unlikely) or junk. My filters last months. I just changed out my second for a third in 9 months of therapy. It wasn't discoloured at all, but I thought what the hay...…. RE: Dirty filters - PaulaO2 - 09-14-2018 I live in an old house with high ceilings and wood floors. I also have 3 dogs and 2 cats. In other words, this house is very dusty. Extremely dusty. I once put up a pic of my filter after it had been in there a month. Someone asked if I ran my CPAP on diesel. But it wasn't black. It was a nasty brown with thick dust on it. If your filter is getting that dirty, that fast, yeah, you have an air quality problem. How dusty is the inside of your computers? RE: Dirty filters - trickyneedsleep - 09-14-2018 I did notice a few days ago the A/C filter came loose. I'll check it again when I get home. Maybe it dropped off again |
