Trying CPAP again - KrisGarner - 06-04-2019 I was supposed to be on CPAP for a while now, but wasn't very compliant in the past. My apnea has worsened lately and I am just tired all of the time. I recently went back for another sleep study, since the previous one was about 7 years ago. My OSA has progressed for barely mild (I don't remember the number, just their description) to severe (31.4). During the 1st night of the sleep study, my oxygen level got down to 83% at the lowest point. I don't have the detailed results of the study, even though I have asked for them. Today I just ordered my new machine from The CPAP Shop since my DME wanted to only give me a "brick" machine and wouldn't entertain the notion that I had done my own research and wanted an auto machine with data. My insurance pays the same for in network or out, so I am getting a much better machine for what may end up being about $100 less than what the out of pocket amount would have been through them. I ordered: ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset with heated humidifier and heated tube PR Dreamwear full face mask ResMed AirFit F30 (free) All total, I got the machine, humidifier, heated hose, both masks, and year's worth of filters for $928 to my door (before insurance). I got the All Size kit with the Dreamwear mask because I wore the medium and medium wide during the sleep study, but their size guide said I should be wearing the small. I also got the ResMed AirFit F30 for free due to a special they are running right now with new ResMed machines, so I'm going to give that one a shot too. I am hoping they send my Rx to The CPAP Shop quickly and I can get the new machine by the weekend. I'm not too concerned with the initial pressure settings since it will probably be in CPAP mode. I'll run it as is for a few days and then upload my OSCAR data here in order to fine tune things and get it going in APAP mode. I'm tired and ready for a good night's sleep. RE: Trying CPAP again - sheepless - 06-04-2019 KrisGarner, good luck on this latest cpap effort. after you get a few nights on the new machine, post some data to help you get the most out of it. most give up because they didn't get the support from the sleep med business to get everything working just so. this forum fills that niche. for all of us that have given up, are thinking about it or are determined to do so, take note of how many threads we see from folks returning after having quit. RE: Trying CPAP again - KrisGarner - 06-04-2019 Thanks. I am glad I found this forum and it's the reason I ordered the data-capable device instead of just accepting what the DME wanted to sell me. Otherwise, I may have just had another device to sit in the closet and rarely get used. Not to mention another $500-800 wasted and getting no sleep. RE: Trying CPAP again - sheepless - 06-04-2019 yes, I meant to acknowledge that. good for you becoming informed enough to make sure you got a good machine. far too many of us, myself included, assumed these people will put our interests before their usually legitimate profit motive but that might be the exception rather than the rule. it happens enough to be wary anyway. I suppose it's a problem in any business where we fail to educate ourselves and rely too heavily on others. plus I'd venture without empirical evidence that the people that come here don't get burned more than once and are more likely to succeed in managing all this equipment for optimal therapy. RE: Trying CPAP again - Big Guy - 06-04-2019 You ordered a great CPAP machine. Same as mine, as well as the mask you ordered. I've been using the AirFit F30 now for well over a month or so, and I like it. Good luck with your therapy. RE: Trying CPAP again - KrisGarner - 06-04-2019 Thanks. I used the Dreamwear mask for my study, but the Airfit was free so I figured I might as well give it a try too. RE: Trying CPAP again - SarcasticDave94 - 06-04-2019 Hi KrisGarner, Personal and sincere welcome to AB. Congrats on great machine choice. Best wishes on CPAP therapy adjustment and getting apneas treated well. SD94 RE: Trying CPAP again - KrisGarner - 06-04-2019 Thanks.
