what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 [attachment=14094][attachment=14094][attachment=14095][attachment=14095][attachment=14096][attachment=14097][attachment=14098]I`m trying to figure out why I have so many clear airway events. And what is the cause behind them any help would be appreciated. RE: what is clear airway in oscar - Melman - 08-04-2019 A clear airway event is flagged when the machine detects you are not breathing for 10 sec or longer but doses not detect a blockage of the airway. They may indicate you are holding your breath while awake or shifting position or they may indicate central apnea, which occurs when your brain does not send the signal to breath. It’s not determined by OSCAR but by the machine. A little history would be helpful. Did you have a sleep study and did it detect a large number of central apnea? If you have a copy please post it; not just the summary but the entire study. If your sleep study showed most of your events were central, you have complex apnea and have the wrong machine to treat them. EPR can cause CA so you may want to turn that off. There are others on the forum with more expertise with complex apnea. I’m sure one of them will respond. In addition to posting results of your sleep study it will be helpful if you reorganize and reformat your OSCAR charts as described in the link below. Be sure to minimize the calendar and delete the pie chart as described. EDIT: I just looked at your earlier posts and you were doing great. Do you know what was different about last night? Were you awake when most of the CA were flagged? Did you change positions more than usual? Was this jut an off night or have you seen a trend of increasing CA? RE: what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 [attachment=14099][attachment=14100][attachment=14101][attachment=14102][attachment=14104]that was just my last hour of sleep up till that point it was pretty good. I got to use restroom and thought wow I can sleep for another hour I guess I should have stayed up LOL RE: what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 it seems like the closer I get to wake up time the more they increase RE: what is clear airway in oscar - Melman - 08-04-2019 I wouldn't call those results pretty good. Your July 6 chart looked much better. We have only seen charts from July 6 and Aug 3. It would be helpful to see data from one or two other nights. Please follow these instructions http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=OSCAR_Chart_Organization for formatting and organizing your charts. RE: what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 [attachment=14125][attachment=14126][attachment=14127][attachment=14128]I hope this works RE: what is clear airway in oscar - Melman - 08-04-2019 Please try again. You chart should look like this. [attachment=14137] RE: what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 [attachment=14138][attachment=14139][attachment=14140]I hope this set is better RE: what is clear airway in oscar - OpalRose - 08-04-2019 Hi King of no sleep, You may get some relief from the Clear Airways if you set your EPR to 1 or even off. Try it. Next time you post charts, the following graphs are what we need to see: Events, Flow Rate, Pressure (not mask pressure), Leak Rate, Flow Limitations. Include left sidebar, minus the calendar and pie chart. This way you need only post one graph for each day. If other information or additional graphs are needed, we can always request it. See Melman’s graph example above. RE: what is clear airway in oscar - King of no sleep - 08-04-2019 thanks for the info I will play around with the charts and see if that helps on posting and will set my EPR to 1 |
