Downloading OSCAR with the new Edge browser. - AlanE - 04-20-2020 This "problem" is not new but the dialog boxes may have changed so I am posting this here for others. If this has already been posted, let me know. We'll delete it. If enough people download it with Edge, the warnings may eventually disappear. If you download and install the new version of the Edge browser for Windows 10 and you have Microsoft Defender smartscreen enabled (it is by default), you may see issues with downloading Oscar and I'm sure other programs as well. When you download Oscar, you will see this at the bottom of your browser: Click on the three dot ... button and choose Keep Your downloads will show and a box will appear stating "This app might harm your device" Choose "Show more" Choose "Keep anyway" If you didn't notice the download at the bottom of your screen, or if the box disappeared already, click the three dot ... button on the upper right side of the browser. Your downloads will appear. Note: Your probably won't have a green up arrow on it. That's just telling me there is an update already. Click Keep and see above. Update: I forgot to mention that even after doing this, you will get this dialog box when you run it: Select "More info" and click "Run anyway" RE: Downloading OSCAR with the new Edge browser. - DeepBreathing - 04-20-2020 Thanks Alan. Much appreciated. RE: Downloading OSCAR with the new Edge browser. - Sleeprider - 04-20-2020 Alan, would it help to use the "Report this app as safe" option? RE: Downloading OSCAR with the new Edge browser. - AlanE - 04-20-2020 I did that. Probably a good idea to report it safe and hopefully it "learns". You'll still need to tell it to keep though after you report it. |
