New and Need Help w/data - deb - 03-06-2012

I'm a CPap user since apnea diagnosis in November. My docter is not much help and I'm trying to solve this problem pretty much on my own.I have finally found a mask that I can live with comfortably and use faithfully. I am now in the process of experimenting with different settings to try to achieve an AHI of under 5, and I'm not even close.

What is perplexing me more is that on C-Flex my obstructed airway averages 7.4, clear airway .08, AHI 11.2

But when I use A-Flex or C-Flex+, the readings are quite different, with most all events being Clear Airway Apnea, with AHI readings of 10 or above. What is happening, why are the events mostly clear airway events on A-Flex and C-Flex+???

My doctor doesn't know these results, as the last time I went in with all my printouts, he couldn't even read them correctly and told me to increase pressure to 10, which I've done with no change. He also told me to go get a mask fitting, which I did, and which had to be changed as the person gave me the wrong size (it was what they had in stock).

I'm hoping someone can guide me toward some help here, I'm not giving up on this, but I know it is not yet accomplishing what the treatment should. Thank you kindly.

Hi deb, welcome
Congrats on finding the right mask, it,s the most important part of the therapy.
What,s your leak, large leak can affect the measurement.
Flex/EPR are comfort features some people swear by them while others don,t use. You can try Flex on-board demo to see the difference of each settings, Here is the link to Flex family and more information about PRS1:
http://flexfamily.respironics.com/

What,s your 90% percentile pressure, Some like to set the minimum/maximum pressure 2 or 3 cmh2o below and above and you might like to download SleepyHead software.

If not happy with the doctor find yourself another health professional who can help and guide you to a better sleep and rest.
Best of luck on your journey.
