Persistent Central Apnea - davepap - 02-08-2021 Over the past year, it always seems to be a battle between pressure comfort and apnea control. Higher pressures lead to mask leaks and sometimes stomach discomfort. Although I'd probably be better with a full face mask, I've gone for a more comfortable nasal mask. Again, trying to balance comfort and effectiveness. PAP is a blessing for getting through the next day, with the help of more than a little caffeine of course. I know I'd probably be better off with tighter ranges, but that might be at a cost of "getting to sleep" and "staying asleep". I was just wondering if someone had some advice on a new direction to take. RE: Persistent Central Apnea - Sleeprider - 02-08-2021 Not a new direction, just a refinement of what you have already accomplished. Min EPAP 5.5 PS min 3.0 PS max 3.0 Max IPAP 9.5 This is mainly just managing PS to avoid CA, treat H and keep EPAP high enough to avoid OA. You were on the right track, and pretty much know a tighter group of settings is what you need. RE: Persistent Central Apnea - Chequebook - 02-11-2021 A full face mask may not work for you. I have central sleep apnoea and tried using a full-face mask as opposed to the Airfit nasal that I use. I found I just could not get a reliable seal with the full face mask, the larger surface area giving a greater force pushing the mask away, the noise of leaks woke me up repeatedly and my sleep was far more disturbed. |
