Meaning of numbers in parentheses of events in Oscar - fredo48 - 03-04-2021

when I click on an event in Oscar a number appears in parentheses- does this indicate the length of the event in seconds?i

It does, see the bottom of this post for how they classify events. They have to be 10 seconds or longer and flow limits are not timed.

Yes Ok thank you.

It is the length of the event as reported by the CPAP machine. ResMed AirSense 10 machines report time for hypopneas as zero, so OSCAR doesn't show any duration for hypopneas on these machines.

In earlier versions of Oscar those numbers were also visible for Philips Respironics machines, as inherited from SleepyHead... But those numbers proved meaningless and have been discarded in present versions of Oscar. Hence no TTIA anymore!

Thank you.

for example, the first event recorded with an associated parenthesis will be a certain number and each subsequent event is the next highest number (eg 12, net one 13 ...), so I don't see how the number represents the time (duration) of the event.

OSCAR only shows the event as is reported by the CPAP machine. ResMed doesn't report time for hypopnea, so OSCAR doesn't show time for hypopnea.

Other apneas are reported by OSCAR at 10 seconds duration and up.

Post a graph so we can see what you are referring to.

I was wrong! The number in parentheses does indicate the length of the apnea episode.
