RE: SoClean sues Philips [updated] - Sleeprider - 10-12-2021 Long before Philips announced its recall and advised against the use of Ozone cleaners, Resmed warned that the use of ozone would void warranties on its machines. The Resmed announcement to modify its warranty was in January 2020, and the Philips recall was September 2021. http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Equipment-RESMED-ON-USE-OF-OZONE-MACHINES Quote:To Our Valued Patient, RE: SoClean sues Philips [updated] - hegel - 10-12-2021 Resmed's warning about "potential damage to machines" has always been too vague, imo. Damage, how? to which components? Of course, now we likely know: damage to foam and possibly other 'soft' materials. Frankly it never occurred to me that there may be foam in these machines. I always assumed they were made from metal and silicon and plastic. I have my doubts as to whether ozone from a so Clean can eat through these sorts of materials, but others are sure it can. Note that Resmed never says that it's studies show that So Clean can harm the patient--just the opposite, it leaves this up to the patient. It only warns about damage to the machine. Maybe they never performed any studies on health impacts. Are there more foam--like components in a cpap machine, other than the sound deadening part? At least now we're likely to see the results of studies on all this. Although both sides will doubtless produce studies that contradict the other. RE: SoClean sues Philips [updated] - FirstNoele - 07-05-2022 For those of us, who were using Dream-Station & never warned, we're also out the money wasted on the purchase of the So-Clean. When the first Phillips product began blowing backwards, I'd posted about it here. Maybe the So-Clean caused that malfunction. |
