oscar 1.3 download problem - cberistain - 10-17-2021 my windows 10/64bit desktop computer won't download the file ( no problem downloading the v1.2) ... I turned off the virus protection but that didn't help. I get a message saying that the download could damage my computer .. but I'm assuming the problem is on my end and not on v1.3 any advice? thanks charlie RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - GuyScharf - 10-17-2021 Is the problem that it won't download, or that it won't install? If you try to install and it complains about not being a trustworthy program (I forget the exact words), click on "More Info" and then click on the "install anyway" button. If it won't download, that probably is something at your end. Try a different browser and see if that works any better. Can you post a screen shot of the exact message? RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - clownbell - 10-17-2021 In my case, it downloads just fine on Windows 10 / 64 bit. But when I go to install, Windows Defender blocks it AND Norton gets very grouchy because the download is so new and used by so few people (at this time, maybe will be better in a few days) RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - SuperSleeper - 10-17-2021 (10-17-2021, 09:30 PM)clownbell Wrote: In my case, it downloads just fine on Windows 10 / 64 bit. But when I go to install, Windows Defender blocks it AND Norton gets very grouchy because the download is so new and used by so few people (at this time, maybe will be better in a few days) It's common for some anti-virus software to block newer software that hasn't yet been downloaded much. That disappears once several people have downloaded the software over a period of time. Not sure how to handle it with your particular anti-virus software, but there should be an option to ignore the warning message and install anyway (as Guy alluded to above). RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - SuperSleeper - 10-17-2021 Of note: Although the OSCAR download page is on sleepfiles.com, this is one reason why the install files themselves are hosted on apneaboard.com instead of sleepfiles.com The apneaboard.com domain has a much higher "trust rating" than the sleepfiles.com domain, simply because it's been around longer and has an established history with a lot of activity. ApneaBoard.com was registered in 2004, while SleepFiles.com was registered in 2014. Therefore the warnings you're experiencing should go away much quicker than if the files were hosted on sleepfiles.com In Google, if you search using the term site:SleepFiles.com you'll get 24 results. If you search using the term site:ApneaBoard.com you'll get 14,400 results (currently). That's one thing that makes apneaboard.com more "trustworthy" in the eyes of anti-virus software. There's other criteria also. RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - Jeff8356 - 10-17-2021 I just tried this in my Win10 VM. Using MS Edge I got this: [attachment=36469] Hover over the filename, then Click the 3 horizontal dots to the right of the filename and select Keep. Another popup will open, click Show More. Then select Keep Anyway. [attachment=36470] You can also report the app as safe. Doing so should help speed up the process of removing any blocking for others in the future. RE: oscar 1.3 download problem - untoutseul05 - 10-18-2021 Hi, I did the test with a VM : Using Edge, show the message posted before. You can click on the notification. clic on the right, on the 3 dots put horizontally. You can report as safe but you have a menu with 2 options (I have a french W10. So, I try a translation) : I think the site is safe / I'm the owner or something like. Maybe, someone in the "working team" can report the both exe file as safe and say it's the owner and it's a error. After what, you can say what you want to keep. Maybe, you have to pack with a editor not empty (if it is) to avoid : it's say the editor is unknown. How long does it stay stuck there before you reboot? |
