Incorrect "total time in apnea"? - Pizzafoundry - 02-24-2022

I just began running Oscar a couple of weeks ago and I notice now that the Total Time in Apnea numbers seem to be wrong.

Sure enough, running the old SleepyHead version produces very different numbers here.  The numbers Oscar shows seem to be very low every day.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks,

eno

If many of your events are hypopnea, the older sleepyhead estimated more time for those events than Oscar. Oscar does not score "time in apnea" for a hypopnea. You can see the duration of events in the Events tab of the Daily results, and H is not timed, while the actual time of a central or obstructive apnea is scored in parentheses. I would argue Oscar is more accurate.

To put it another way, Sleepyhead was providing numbers where the xPAP was not. Sleepyhead was wrong. If the number is not reported, OSCAR doesn't make up some number to fill the blank.

Aha!  Makes perfect sense then.

Thanks very much.
