I took this out of another thread because my comments don't really apply directly to that thread, but got started from a snippet:

It may be worth exhausting other possibilities before "pulling that lever".
I lucked out big time. I've only used two mask designs over the last 7-8 years. They've both worked well for me straight from the DME office (tried three or four on at the office both times and picked what I thought best):
- Respironics Comfort Classic nasal mask (small)
- ResMed Mirage FX nasal mask
I upgraded to the Mirage FX from the very ancient Comfort Classic design when I got my S9 earlier this year.
While the design for both worked well for me in general, I found that there was a little bit of a crapshoot whenever I put on a new mask (Comfort Classic) or cushion set (Mirage) or, of course, headgear which always required some futzing around to get to its optimal arrangement...
The variances in fit and performance were minor, but they were there. And sometimes noticeable. More leak, changes in fit, comfort, pressure points, louder exhaust (slightly). I know my fist Mirage mask (now a backup) fit better than the newer one I purchased a couple of months back. Will change cushions out at the quarter end and hope for a good roll. Any girls want to blow on the dice for me?

Still too early to tell for me, but after a solid week on the mask I think I got extremely lucky. The SwiftFX that the technician fitted me with at my sleep study has been working well.

Congrats Paptillian. If you're first mask is working well for you, you are either lucky or had a technician who did a great job of fitting you with the right mask for your face.
