Question About ResMed N30i Frame/Cushion - upsman - 05-21-2022

I'm using the N30i mask and it's the one for me. Best mask I've tried over the years.

About 3 days ago I noticed the cushion was not connected to one leg of the frame. When I tried to reconnect it, it wouldn't connect. Turns out there is a little plastic oval insert that was missing from the end of the supply tube. So, I was able to tape the cushion to the frame well enough to get it to work.

Now, the cushion is the old style with the hard plastic ends pieces. I ordered a new frame and cushion from Amazon and it arrived yesterday. Of course, the cushion is the new style with the soft silicone ends and the exhale diffuser. Since my old cushion was fairly new, I decided to swap cushions and keep the new one as a spare until needed. Seems the new frame and old cushion aren't compatible. I couldn't get one side of the cushion to connect to the frame.

Does anybody know if ResMed did this by design, or could I possibly just be not connecting it properly. I know I have it lined up properly as I've done this many times before. Are the new frames incompatible with the old cushions on purpose?  Huh

UPDATE: Just in case anyone else ever has this issue, the plastic oval piece was attached to the end of the cushion somehow. This is why it wouldn't connect to the new frame. Once I realized this, I removed it from the cushion and put it back in the old frame and everything works perfectly now.

Sadly, I spent $80 on a new frame and cushion for nothing. But hey, now I have a spare.  Smile

Having spares of everything is always a good idea.

I wouldn't count on the disconnected plastic sleeve reliably staying on anymore. I had one pop off, after that it started falling off more often. Didn't take long where it, pop off during use.

Yep, I have a box full of old masks, hoses, and whatnot. Even an old S9 machine, just in case.

It's always safer to have a backup plan, for sure.
