Removing SD card - drc101982 - 10-19-2022
I'm requesting this for my husband who uses an Airsense 10. Our insurance no longer covers the usage monitoring, so we'll be using Oscar. He's a truck driver and needs a report to take for his DOT physical. He's worried that if he removes the SD card from the machine it will delete all the information.
He said last time he removed the card and put it back in, the machine said it was formatting the SD card. He can't access the info on his app anymore so he doesn't know if that data was deleted after the card formatted.
Is this something we need to worry about? He's worried he won't be able to get the reports needed to keep his CDL current.

Simply removing and then re-inserting the SD Card will cause the device to reformat it.
What might have happened is this:
- He has a ResMed S9
- The SD Card was removed and then put into a computer (Windows or Mac)
- This will cause a thumnail/index file to be written to the SD Card
- The ResMed saw the foreign file and then re-formatted the drive.
This was a problem with the S9 line and has been addressed in new models.
If he still uses the S9, flip the write protect switch, but remember to turn it off when placing back in CPAP device.

To add to Dog Slobber's post, By default, Windows has the writing of System Volume Information turned on for removable devices by default. This option can be turned off. You would only need to do this if the CPAP is a Resmed S9. All others will tolerate this file.
