F&P Forma Full face mask - jettman96 - 08-09-2013

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the Fisher and Paykel Forma Full Face Mask.

(0 -10 scale 0 = completely useless 10 = awesome)

Comfort = 10
Sealability = 3
Quality = 8

Overall the mask is very comfortable for a full face mask even though it does have a forehead piece.  The mask is a bit bulky as it comes below the chin.  The seal is very soft and even with the head gear tightened as tight as I could get it the discomfort was minimal.  Unfortunately, this is also the source of the biggest weakness of this mask.  If you run high pressures, you are likely to experience difficulty maintaining a good seal have high leak levels.  Basically, if there is any point of weakness in the seal the air will force its way out (especially if you chin like a goatee or beard).

The verdict...  if you have pressures under 20 this mask is definitely worth looking into if you need a full face mask.  But beware if you have facial hair on your chin, it could be questionable whether it will work or not.

Please note that I am not a professional and still a newbie to the apnea treatment world.  It is also worth mentioning that I have a fairly thick goatee and my BiPAP pressures are 25/21.

That's just my $.02
