New to CPAP & Oscar - TheOtherSeid - 06-03-2023

Hello All - I'm new to CPAP having been recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea.

I purchased the ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset machine with built in humidifier and am using the ResMed AirFit N20 nasal mask.

I downloaded Oscar and am trying to understand all the graphs and such -- but there is a lot of information there.

Initially I bought my machine from a company in Canada called SnoreMD Canada - my doctor sent them my prescription, to they gave me a loaner for 3 weeks but they bill insurance the maximum they can which would have set me over $500 out-of-pocket. I purchased the machine from an online Canadian reseller and saved myself some money ... I think.

I will reach out to my doctor next week, but until then and for my own knowledge I'd like to learn more about Oscar and what these results mean.

Initially the clinic set my range to be 6 - 20, but I changed that the other day to be 7 - 20.

My AHI for the 1st was 2.58, for yesterday it was 1.57.

There's a lot to learn. You just have to take it one step at a time. The first thing you want to look at is the hours used each night. The machine won't work if you're not using it. The second thing is leaks. Look at your leak statistics and your leak rate graph to see if you've got your leaks under control. Then you can look at your AHI.

Here are some images from Oscar... hopefully this works this time.

I try and use the machine at least 7-8 hours per night and was doing so with the initial loaner. I'm usually in bed by 10pm and up around 7am.
