F Buttons dont work - Dugy40 - 07-18-2023
i have windows 10. the f buttons do not work, if i hit f8 a windows feature pops out to connect to another display. some of the buttons do nothing. save screenshot button doestn save. i have it save to oscar folder.nothing is there. but ive tried all of them. ty Doug

Do the F keys work correctly with other apps on your computer? If you are using a 3rd party keyboard they may have the keys mapped to something else, or you may need to press a modifier key first ( like alt + F12 or Fn + F12).

I bought a nice Hp laptop. I’ve tried “modifiers “ alt. Home. Ctrl. All the usual ones. There’s prob one that might let Oscar have the f buttons. But none work in Oscar. They work fine in windows for the function they were meant for. I’ll mess with it now. Thank you for commenting. Doug.

Windows key + prt sc (on HP probably right shift key)
If not combined with the "right shift" could be separate key prt scr.

Besides taking the screenshot, the F12 and Fn+F12 (for a Mac) perform special functions and formatting in OSCAR. That is why we ask the members to use this feature when capturing an image for analysis.

From the OSCAR menu bar try View > Take Screenshot and see if that works for you.

The only reason I mentioned the Windows + prt sc is because it seems Dugy still isn't able to get the screen shot. "Still not taking screenshots though with f12. I’ll keep trying."
Will keep that in mind for the future, just used the F12 key while in OSCAR on my machine and it worked great as you suggest, even though outside of OSCAR the F12 key is not mapped for screen shots on this MSI laptop.

tried that. nothing. checked pictues folder. downloads and oscar folder. no screenshots. right now the screenshots i take are with prntscrn dot com. it lets me hit prntscreen. just trying to figure out f12.
