Aerophagia, bad sleep - LarkinM - 08-30-2023 Hello, I've been on cpap for about 1 year but can't seem to find the correct settings. I feel like my sleep has been worse lately than ever and not sure what to do. I was having issues with aerophagia that was fixed with epr but I have issues tolerating higher pressures not sure what to do for my pressure settings, feels like I've tried everything. Thanks, RE: Aerophagia, bad sleep - jwest - 08-31-2023 hey LarkinM 1) how has CPAP been overall? Have you found any relief? 2) what was your AHI/RDI from your sleep study? 3) in what way is your sleep worse? You feel worse, waking up more, data looks worse? 4) how much data do you have on your SD? 5) what have you tried? RE: Aerophagia, bad sleep - LarkinM - 08-31-2023 1) how has CPAP been overall? Have you found any relief? I have had issues with it waking me up in the middle of the night but I can never find setting that feel like they work well for me. I'm still tired and feel like I need naps in the middle of the day. Not sure what I can change to feel better throughout the night. I find higher epr helps me sleep but I don't feel like it's quality sleep, I'm very tired most days. 2) what was your AHI/RDI from your sleep study? AHI was 7 and but my oxygen would drop to 79% 3) in what way is your sleep worse? You feel worse, waking up more, data looks worse? Mostly feeling on cpap my ahi has never been more than 2-3 usually 1ish. 4) how much data do you have on your SD? Around 1 year 5) what have you tried? Different masks, sleep study - they found my ideal pressure was 9 but I have issues aerophagia at that level, epr levels - Have issues with it off causing massive stomach pain , static pressure - doesn't seem to work well for me, elevated pillow, chin strap, neck brace. RE: Aerophagia, bad sleep - jwest - 08-31-2023 1) have you tried monitoring your O2 alongside your pap therapy? 2) Have you noticed any trends in the statistics tab in OSCAR over that year? Have you been recording your subjective quality of sleep in the journal section? 3) There's a device called VCOM that can help some people with aerophagia. Bipap is also an option, and if the motivation is there, it could be worth the effort. Generally speaking, your data looks pretty good, but I don't say that to dismiss you. There are some areas that could be improved. Have you tried constant pressure? RE: Aerophagia, bad sleep - LarkinM - 08-31-2023 1) have you tried monitoring your O2 alongside your pap therapy? No, but I got my o2 checked during my last sleep study a month ago and they said it looked fine. 2) Have you noticed any trends in the statistics tab in OSCAR over that year? Have you been recording your subjective quality of sleep in the journal section? Not really anything I can figure out in terms of trends. Added a screenshot to show. I try to record how I'm feeling but I'd say most of the time it's lower quality of sleep but some days are way worse than others. I have tried 9 with no epr at a constant pressure and that causes me major stomach pain. I have tried constant 8 with epr of 2 and that was the most tolerable but never felt like my sleep quality was great. I tried the vcom and couldn't really tell a difference in how I felt. My doctor recommended a bipap as well but I had issues sleeping with it and just gave up after a few weeks. It's not oscar compatible and not sure if I should try again. RE: Aerophagia, bad sleep - jwest - 08-31-2023 What have you noticed has helped? Anything? Have you had bloodwork, psychiatric eval, other screening? To be clear, I'm not suggesting anything, but just laying out possibilities. Something like low iron can cause constant fatigue. Could also just be the aerophagia tiring you out. Hopefully some other people can weigh in. |
