First night on Sefam S.box - Rebdr - 10-23-2023

Its been set to 4-20 Auto.
Ive downloaded the software from the files.

Inhaling was a dream, but exhaling felt strained.

It also felt like the air wasn't going down and was filling my cheeks, throat and ears instead,  forcing my mouth open and giving me a headache.

It was only on 4 when this happened. Do I need to go lower or is 4 the lowest? What could be causing the air to seemingly get stuck?

I took it off in the end. I woke up with my mouth slightly open yet nasal breathing was fine so I was thinking about using a tape as my jaw seems to relax too much when asleep.

If I used the tape though wont it just be too uncomfortable with my mouth filling up with air?

Should I just get a full face mask or will I have the same problem?

I am reading through the groups for info also.

My tongue is in the correct position and does stop the air coming out my mouth but I imagine that slacks too when falling asleep. The problem of the cheeks filling up and ears etc all happen whilst awake

This is the PDF I have managed to print to pdf. I was awake for most apart from one incidence where I just fell asleep and then my mouth opened and woke me up. Not sure if you can tell where that is in the data. I think it was around 12am. in some instances I purposely held my breath to get it up to 6.5 to see if higher pressure would help

I also have an issue with the ears/cheeks filling up while awake.

For the ears, I mostly try to ignore it until I fall asleep and then it doesn't bother me. Sorry that's not a more helpful answer.

For the cheeks, I find that that indicates that you want to breathe through your mouth but are either unable to do so (because it is taped shut, for example) or actively trying not to. A bit of mouth breathing is nothing to worry about, so I would let yourself just do what you do naturally.

4 cmH2O is typically the lowest setting. It looks like your 90% Pressure is at about 6.5, which means that for 90% of the time your ideal pressure was at or below 6.5. If you find that the pressure is too high and makes it hard to breathe, you can start at a 4.0 fixed pressure setting to get used to the sensation and then go up from there if it's not effective enough.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. It was a bad night all round really. Restless legs playing up which didnt help at all. Hopefully tonight I can atleast fall asleep with it for some helpful data.

I think I will have to tape to avoid being woken by my mouth opening. I just hope doesnt keep more air stuck in my throat and ears!

Success! Got 2 hours between 2.30 and 4.30 by changing the settings to what is generally recommended here for uars. No more excess pressure when trying to sleep. I think I woke up with air escaping from mouth despite taping.

How does my data look? Flow

Strangely, I cant sleep at all on my sides with the mask. I immediately feel like breathing is restricted. I usually fall asleep on my side.

Have attached coinciding oxy report. Oxy and an oxy comparison from before cpap Here

Does anyone know how to see the specific time on the flow report?

Also have cam footage to refer to.

Oh gosh, that report didnt look so bad quality on my phone until uploading. I will just add the PDF

RE: First night on Sefam S.box - Rebdr - 10-24-2023

Oh its waveforms I've uploaded not flow. Is that needed?

RE: First night on Sefam S.box - Rebdr - 10-24-2023

A snapshot of flow when asleep

RE: First night on Sefam S.box - Rebdr - 10-24-2023

Cant see how to delete. Ive just seen the forum doesnt offer support for sefam. My only question really is if anyone can tell my problem is indeed uars and not something else?

RE: First night on Sefam S.box - jstro84 - 10-24-2023

This snapshot looks really good! This is the normal wave form you should be looking for in your flow data.

Have you tried laying down on your side before adjusting your mask? I find that if I adjust the mask to my face while I'm sitting upright, it will move out of place when I put my head down on the pillow and blow air into my eyes. Try putting the mask on while sitting up and then adjusting the straps after you've got into sleep position.
