Is 3 clear airway events in one night an issue? - michael7 - 11-19-2023

Hello. I started therapy about 2 months ago and it's been going great, I feel way more energetic and I think I have my settings pretty good overall. Some nights I get clear airway events though and I know those are something to watch for, though I also know the machine doesn't always tag them correctly. Last night I had three clear airway events and a hypopnea. I've posted an OSCAR screenshot of my night overall as well as two of the clear airway events. I'd appreciate it and see if someone could look at them and see if I need to tweak my settings in anyway. Thanks!

How do you feel? If you feel great I would not tweak anything.

You are doing great with your therapy. Give it some time but in another month or so consider slowly inching up your pressure to see if it helps clear up some of the arousals if the flow rate continues to show the spikes.

I would raise the EPR TO 3 full time. That will help with the rise in pressure you had.

Your chart looks great. Both CAs follow arousal breathing, which is deeper than regular asleep breathing. It’s very natural to pause after those deeper breaths, and you shouldn’t worry about that.

One of the arousals follows a little leak.

The spikes at the top of your flow rate graph might be arousals or might just be sighs. Again, not to worry.

You could try EPR of 3 and see how you like it. For someone with such great numbers, it’s best regarded as a comfort feature.

If you make any little tweaks, try them for at least a few nights, unless they’re a disaster. Really you’re just looking for sleep that leaves you feeling rested the next day. In other words, your subjective experiences are more important than your numbers when your numbers are this good.

3 CA? They shouldn't be an issue. I'd just try repeating this type of chart and you'll be doing well.

Like others have said, there's nothing to worry about. Your data looks very clean, even better than likely many people who don't have a diagnosis of sleep-disordered breathing. The CAs are a consequence of the breathing that preceded it, it seems, and not necessarily a product of a lack of respiratory drive for neurological reasons. The "worse" part of your data is the variety of leak spikes we can see throughout the night, but even your leak profile is relatively good. It's awesome to hear that therapy is going well for you. Thanks for sharing with others

You are doing great!  Your chart shows absolutely nothing to worry about.

Three CA's is minor, nothing to worry over. Your chart looks good and as long as you feel good, I don't see a reason to change anything.
