Help please - Januaryflake22 - 12-15-2023 I recently purchased an Air sense 11 machine. I seem to be struggling with settings. I was prescribed the following settings; start pressure at four, then ramp to ten, then gradually increase. Most nights I find that I start off fine (I have a 45 min. ramp time) but the trouble starts when I take a bathroom break and then try to resume. At the auto set setting, the machine is supposed to sense that you are no longer asleep and start over, right? It seems to be blowing at full pressure, which makes it impossible to resume sleep. I can't understand why it won't go back to ramping up, so as a a result, I take it off. Which of course is guaranteed to cause lousy sleep and apneas galore. I tried going back to CPAP instead of auto settings, but still it feels like it is blowing too hard to go back to sleep. I also noticed that auto shut off and resume isn't working either. I checked the troubleshooting manual, and it said that using the wrong mask would cause the auto on/off feature not to work. I was originally prescribed a semi full face mask, but couldn't tolerate it. So I went back to using the same nasal pillows which I had used with the Autos sense 10. I changed the setting to nasal pillows on the machine, but the auto start and stop feature still isn't working. I have had a full week of awful sleep and feel really ill. I can't get in for another sleep study until February of 2024. Any suggestions? RE: Help please - Gideon - 12-15-2023 Most of us here don't like those settings because we find the resu;ts poor so... Mode Auto Min Pressure = 7 (Most adults have a lot of difficulty with lower pressures) Max Pressure = 15 ( this doesn't matter much because if you are properly setup you will never hit it. EPR =3, Fulltime (not ramp only) This will make it more comfortable and will actually better treat your smaller events. Ramp = 7 Ramp Time = 10 or 15 minutes (goal is to get rid of it if we can. Use these for one night then post your detailed daily charts from OSCAR, good or bad they will tell us a lot. Plan on needing changes. You mention getting up at "night" but it looks like you have a polyphasic sleep schedule where you sleep for several chunks of 45min-1.5hr throughout the wee hours of the morning and well into the day. Even if you have a long ramp period, it should at least show in the charts. So before anyone can comment further, I think it's worth confirming whether or not you're actually getting up for a whole hour or more at a time multiple times when you sleep. Then I have trouble sleeping. As you know, when not using CPAP most people find that they are getting up to urinate more frequently; plus, when I try to resume sleep, I have trouble for up to an hour. Sometimes I toss and turn, sometimes I turn on the light and read for awhile. I don't usually rise until noon or later. |
