Some advice with aperia and intro cpap kit - ifsmithy - 12-17-2023 I bought a cpap (resmed11) and all the gear I needed outside of insurance 2-3 months ago as did a lofta at home study to get a prescription. I finally got a sleep study through insurance (early - was predicted to be Feb 2024) and saw my sleep doctor last week and next thing i know im being shipped a cpap and all the supplies without even asking for them - just arrived. My plan was to not get another cpap machine as I have to deal with compliance nonsense while i use my current resemd11 full time…… I believe i have to pay 50% of whatever my insurance company will pay aperia (I still cant find that out). I would like to use aperia for supplies however. Anyone have any advice here - I have anthem blue cross ppo and am based in California - i am switching to healthnet hmo next year as well…. Thanks in advance Ian RE: Some advice with aperia and intro cpap kit - Sleeprider - 12-17-2023 You always have the right to decline a machine, and I'm not aware of any DME supplier that will ship a CPAP without a written agreement for uncovered financial responsibility. You can decline the machine or even change suppliers, so this story seems to be missing a chapter. RE: Some advice with aperia and intro cpap kit - srlevine1 - 12-18-2023 Your physician's assistant or insurance agent should be assisting you. If you want to return the new device, contact the DME, explain the situation, and request an RMA number and a prepaid return shipping label. As for supplies, most insurance requires an indication of continuing compliance. And, DMEs require a financial responsibility guarantee (Apria used to require a credit card on file). Healthnet has a coordinator to work out transition details -- contact your insurance agent (or company representative) or Heathnet directly. I have used both Apria and Healthnet and found both to be cooperative. |
