Brainfog and dizzy feeling throughout six months of use - youthfulapnea - 12-17-2023

Hey All,

First time poster to this forum.

I've been using my Airsense 10 Autoset with the Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask for roughly six months now.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any improvements to the brain fog and fatigue I felt before I started treatment. I'm finding I'm waking up most days in a complete fog and even with exercise feel completely out of it. It's a mixture of fatigue and feeling like there's a haze I can't pierce with logical or critical thinking. This is a bit of a problem for me as I work a job that has a high cognitive load in which you're expected to be switched on all day, every day. At the moment it feels like I'm operating at 10% brain capacity regardless of the amount of coffee, exercise or sleep I get. If anything I feel it's been slowly getting worse.

Looking at my OSCAR/MyAir data things look quite good, barely any leaks, consistent pressure and <1 AHI.

Has anyone else struggled with these issues? My compliance is quite good, usually getting 7+ hours of mask time 6-7 days a week. This week has been a slightly different story due to holiday season travel.

OSCAR charts from last night included, would love to get any advice or hear if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Have you had a full medical workup, including blood tests, cardiology (echocardiogram), endocrinology, pulmonology, blood gasses, and a brain scan? Have you had a review of your medications and supplements? Have you had a Long Covid check? Have you been under-hydrated? Checked for stress and sub-clinical depression? Environmental factors at home or at work? What is the pressure range and EPR setting? Nighttime oxygen saturation?

You left off a huge amount of information, you need the left box showing the Min, Max, EPR.

But I would set min to 8
Set EPR to full time
Set EPR 3

This should help.

Sorry all - first time poster.  Oh-jeez

Additional data included.

I've had bloodworks done - all good! However my Dr wasn't too concerned and recommended I talk to the sleep specialist as most likely apnea related.

Brain fog can be dangerous to yourself and others as it affects your decision-making capability and response time.

"However my Dr wasn't too concerned and recommended I talk to the sleep specialist as most likely apnea related." is not too reassuring. Are they a GP, or do they have an area of specialization?

In the final analysis, it's how you feel -- not how the doctor feels.

You'd do well if you also turned off ramp altogether.  You aren't getting much therapy with that on.  Also, if you post Oscar following the format suggested in the Oscar instructions, we could probably offer you more useful advice.
