iwanttosleepbetter - (Therapy Thread) - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-08-2024 Did a sleep study, but only slept for 2 hrs. The guy next to my head doing his study was snoring the whole night and shouted when he left in the early morning. Of those two hours, please see the RERAs and heart rate. I have a heart arrythmia called inappropriate sinus tachycardia and dysautonomia with daily episodes of chest pain, tachycardia, palpitations that I am really curious to see if can be helped with better sleep/trying a machine first. CBCT scan at airway ortho shows very narrow airway throughout, and the airway ortho recommends double jaw surgery and suggested to chase a sleep study. Sleep Dr says this is not sleep apnea and therefore I am not qualified to use a machine. I just got a Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto machine with the nose pillows hose in S for my small nose, but don't know what settings to use. 1. Can someone please help humor me and suggest settings to start with? I want to try this to see if it helps my arrythmia and daily, debilitating symptoms. Sleep-wise, I never wake up refreshed and often wake up in the middle of the night. I figure, if this doesn't work, it doesn't work. No harm, no foul? Unfortunately, the Dr I wasted 2 months with to do this test does not even want to try! 2. Does it look like UARS? 3. Do I meet insurance criteria for Moderate Sleep Apnea with an RDI of 25? I read this could qualify even with a low AHI. 4. Does this look like “REM-related” sleep apnea? RE: Please, help me! - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-08-2024 I've tried attaching and pasting all of the results, but not working. Linked here the screenshots-https://www.facebook.com/groups/upperairwayresistancesyndrome/posts/1357913408263789/?comment_id=1358027111585752&reply_comment_id=1358156251572838¬if_id=1704688876388722¬if_t=group_comment RE: Please, help me! - Gideon - 01-08-2024 the rest of the sleep study please. I do think the VAuyo is a good machine for you. If it is used please perform a Factory Reset. This will reset all settings tp default. Your Reras in the absence of any apnea or hypopneas point to UARS. Simply put RERAs are a series of flow limitations followed by arousal. Thats what, based on your post, we will be looking at minimizing. Settings: Mode: VAuto Min EPAP=4 (Min value and default) Max IPAP=12 (Doesn't matter too much, just need a bit of room for the Auto more to work) PS=3 (Default is 4) Download OSCAR Make sure you have an SD card in the Vauto (Left side upper door) use overnight. Post Daily charts and a couple random 3-minute segments during periods you think you are sleeping. Then we will evaluate what is going on and adjust RE: Please, help me! - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-08-2024 This post has the rest of the sleep study in the screenshots- https://www.facebook.com/groups/upperairwayresistancesyndrome/posts/1357913408263789/?comment_id=1358027111585752&reply_comment_id=1358156251572838¬if_id=1704688876388722¬if_t=group_comment I was unable to attach the rest here. Thank you for the info! I'll have to look into what that all means. By the way, this sleep study was captured when I slept on my right side. RE: Please, help me! - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-08-2024 What do you think of 'S' mode? I was reading that this is better for UARS? Regardless, I will try your settings first! Just downloaded Oscar. Thank you RE: Please, help me! - Gideon - 01-08-2024 We wi) learn more in Auto mode. In the end we may try something like Mode VAuto Min ePAP=4 MaxIPAP=7 Which is where I'm starting you above. The difference is in the reporting. RE: Please, help me! - gzaw - 01-09-2024 If you can, also try the WatchPAT which is accurate in detecting RDI according to others (and RDI is critical for diagnosing UARS) RE: Please, help me! - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-09-2024 I did do WATCHPAT first, and the device only recorded 15 mins, so it came back inconclusive. Something they said was wrong with the app syncing. Do you see the RDI of 25 is what I have here- https://www.facebook.com/groups/upperairwayresistancesyndrome/posts/1357913408263789/?comment_id=1358027111585752&reply_comment_id=1358156251572838¬if_id=1704688876388722¬if_t=group_comment RE: Please, help me! - OpalRose - 01-09-2024 You may receive more targeted advice if you would download and use the OSCAR software. This way we can see your data. That facebook group requires you to join and wait for approval.... not something most want to do. The first two links in my signature line will guide you. RE: Please, help me! - iwanttosleepbetter - 01-09-2024 I downloaded Oscar yesterday, ordered a micro sd adapter from Amazon, and used the machine for the first time using Gideon's settings. Once I get the adapter, I will share the data. What I noticed last night was frequent waking multiple times, and my mouth was open. |
