water chamber strong plastic odor - twdc33 - 01-22-2024 My new Air Sense 11 has a problem that I also encountered with my Dreamstation 1. When the water runs low (or out) I am awakened by a very strong plastic smell. It definitely seems to come from the water chamber. When I pull it out to replace water, I can smell the tray. Rinse it out and fill and the odor goes away, mostly. This cannot be healthy for anyone and it concerns me. I first noticed it when switching from my Respironics System one, which did not have this problem. I have to assume the quality of the plastic used in the water chambers is not rated for the temps applied for humidification. Is there any way to mitigate the plastic smell from the water chamber? What's up with this? I am afraid the smell from the plastic is harmful. Thank you RE: water chamber strong plastic odor - gainerfull - 01-22-2024 Have you tried running the machine with humidification / climate control turned off to confirm that's the issue? RE: water chamber strong plastic odor - twdc33 - 01-24-2024 Yes, the odor is only when using the humidifier and the water runs out. I even have it set on a low setting but the water runs out frequently if I sleep 7-8 hours. |
