OSCAR not downloading - Happyeyes - 01-22-2024 Tried to download OSCAR from the link on this site but it isn’t downloading. Am I doing something wrong - like having an old computer? RE: OSCAR not downloading - Crimson Nape - 01-22-2024 Let's get some basics here. What computer platform were you trying to download, and did you use the download link at the top of the every page here to obtain OSCAR? - Red RE: OSCAR not downloading - Happyeyes - 01-22-2024 Yes on downloading OSCAR from top of page on this site. Windows 10 64 bit operating system RE: OSCAR not downloading - Crimson Nape - 01-22-2024 I tried it and didn't experience any problems. It may be your Antivirus kicking in. I would try adding "https://www.sleepfiles.com" to your AV's exemption list, or try turning it off prior to going to the download site and see if that will correct the problem. The reason I asked what link you used, was because it has come to our attention that some enterprising soul has a Google ad teasing the OSCAR download, only to be redirected to a pay site. Let me know if you still experience problems, and I will come up with a Plan B. - Red RE: OSCAR not downloading - Happyeyes - 01-22-2024 I keep getting “shellexecuteEx failed; code 193. %1 is not a valid Win33 application. It only allows me to select ok to close error box. I am wondering if my system is too old RE: OSCAR not downloading - Crimson Nape - 01-22-2024 OK, I just tried it on both a Windows and Linux boxes. No problem. Your error seems to be on your computer's side. The first rule when running a Windows O/S, is if you experience a problem, always try rebooting the computer. After the reboot, if you still have the problem, it is a corrupt file on your system. If so, we will go to Plan B at that time. Please let me know the outcome after you reboot. - Red RE: OSCAR not downloading - SuperSleeper - 01-22-2024 (01-22-2024, 08:07 PM)Happyeyes Wrote: Yes on downloading OSCAR from top of page on this site. I assume you meant it says "valid Win32 application" correct? So are you downloading the wrong file? You should not download the 32-bit file, but the 64-bit installation file. I'd recommend you completely deleting any OSCAR file you've downloaded and try again, reboot your PC as Crimson Nape suggested, and then make absolutely sure you're downloading the 64-bit version of OSCAR for Windows and try again. RE: OSCAR not downloading - Happyeyes - 01-30-2024 I have rebooted and am still getting the same error message despite trying to download win64 file. Mist be something wrong with my old computer. RE: OSCAR not downloading - Crimson Nape - 01-30-2024 For the heck of it, have you tried using the Windows 32 version? It can run on both 32 and 64-bit systems. When I test these versions, I can't tell a difference in speed, either. - Red |
