Looking for advice :) - Rotimothy - 02-02-2024 Hello. I've been on CPAP off and on for a since 2019. I took a break for a few months because I didn't feel like it was helping me at all. The Pulmonologist was not very helpful since my AHI looks great. According to him, my insurance will consider the treatment a success since my AHI is under 5 and it's treating the root case of the issue. I understand this, but it doesn't take my quality of life into account. So anyways I thought it was common or normal to feel lethargic and tired most of the time. I noticed lately that I haven't felt like myself (anxiety, lack focus, brain fog) and it's getting harder to get through the day without nodding off. I look tired all of all of the time. The thought of sleeping gives me anxiety sometimes. I'm so tired but I know I won't feel rested in the morning. I spoke with the Pulmonologist again and they gave me the same line. I can come in for an appointment but they'll charge me a co-pay (understandable) but they most likely won't adjust the pressure because my apnea is treated with the current settings. Anyways, I'll get to the point. I've been lurking the board for a few weeks now and read the wiki to educate myself. I started to adjust the settings on my Airsense 10 but realized that I don't have any idea what I'm doing. I started mouth taping on Tuesday which seems to help with the air leaks. I felt like an entirely new person on Wednesday morning when I woke up and thought I finally figured it out. But the last 2 nights have been what I consider to be the norm. I usually have a lot of Clear Airway events. From what I read, this has something to do with the AHI being too high. Does anyone have recommendations for my settings based on my charts for the past 3 nights? Any help will be much appreciated! I saw this recommended in another thread and think it's a great idea. I tightened my mask a little bit before bed last night. I also shaved my face because the mouth tape kept falling off during the night. I slept better last night but still felt kind of groggy this morning. I adjusted the settings back to the default settings on Saturday night. I know this is not recommended but I wanted to see if I slept any better. It's just one night but I slept terribly. I was groggy all day on Sunday and had a headache for most of the day. I didn't mention this in my first post but I usually have a headache when I wake up since starting CPAP. My last sleep test was back in 2019 but at the time I had an AHI of 8.4. I did a home test and didn't sleep very well, if at all. The duration of the test on the paperwork says 7hr and 10m but I slept less than 3 hours that night. So I'm not certain if my AHI is reliable or not. [attachment=59247][attachment=59248] |
