Bed Pillow Question - SheShells23 - 03-24-2024
I know this has been discussed a few times before in the forum but just wondering if anything new has come down the pike in this regard...
What is a good side sleeper pillow not only for not disrupting CPAP mask configurations but is also good for bad shoulders AND is comfortable???
I always sleep primarily on my left side (facing my machine) on my shoulder that had rotator cuff surgery 2 yrs ago. Not good I know but the right side I get a painful hip from bursitis if I go too long on it.
I have a pillow from Kohl's that is meant for side sleeping but I have been putting a slim one on top and I think that may be increasing chin tuck.
Going to try tonight just using the one and see how it goes. (Thankfully my pillows are not causing loads of mask/cushion leaks.)
I have seen the memory foam/gel ones on Amny for CPAP users and they look so unnatural and uncomfortable to me, not to mention expensive! And the "cube" LankyLefty on YouTube recommended would make me feel like I was sleeping on a brick ledge!
Si I guess it would be helpful to hear from you all what has worked and why?

My suggestion is a down pillow, medium 600-650 fill power. This pillow is very flexible, and supportive in the right places and gives way for a mask. You can pull a corner between your shoulder and jaw when on your side and have a built-in soft cervical collar and comfort at the same time. I got mine at Costco Direct. I use the Contour CPAPmax 2.0 pillow. It has a nice low profile, cutouts on the sides for the mask and hose so you don't get issues with the mask being jostled whilst asleep, and has a hot and cool side. Extra pillowcases are available as well that are custom to the pillow, so no issues with extra pillow case blocking the venting on masks.
