SleepAd2 - Therapy Help - SleepAd2 - 05-28-2024 Hi everyone, I’m seeking advice and help with interpreting my CPAP therapy results. I've been using a ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet, and I'm concerned about the central apneas that seem to be persistent. I am a 22 year old male. [*]Mask: Full face mask (F40) [*]Pressure Settings:
[*] Last Night’s Results (May 27, 2024):
[*] My Central Apnea Index is quite high at 4.68, and it concerns me because I want to ensure I'm getting the best sleep possible. Despite feeling better, I still wake up with a mild headache, and I still feel tired in the morning and not as rested as I’d like to be. Additional Information:
[*] Can anyone help me better understand these results and what they indicate about my sleep quality and apnea events? Thank you in advance for your help and insights! I really appreciate any advice you can provide. RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - SarcasticDave94 - 05-28-2024 Welcome to Apnea Board, I would try without the Ramp. Next is trying to get the leaks a bit lower, there's enough there to disturb sleep. The only things you can do to counter Central Apnea in this machine is to avoid them by certain settings. You can't actively treat Centrals with this AutoSet. Do you have a sleep study and the detailed results? If there's a high enough Central Apnea count on the sleep study, it's possible this should be treated with a special machine called ASV, however this is not definite without that info. RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - SleepAd2 - 05-28-2024 Thanks for your reply. I did two sleep studies. In the first: I got 4 central apneas pre-cpap and 1 central apnea with cpap In the second: I got 1 central apnea pre-cpap and 1 central apnea with cpap RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - Deborah K. - 05-28-2024 It sounds as though your CAs are treatment-emergent, meaning that they will lessen as time passes and you become more adjusted to your therapy. You have high flow limits which you can treat by raising your EPR setting to 3. This may cause more CAs, but I would ignore them, as they will lessen on their own. I think it's more important to treat the flow limits. RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - SarcasticDave94 - 05-28-2024 Yep, agreed. The CA are likely treatment emergent. Focus more on how you feel instead of the numbers. Your best bet is treating Obstructive Apnea first. If the CA really hinder then we'll help with avoiding them as well as you're able. RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - SleepAd2 - 05-28-2024 I’ve read that reducing the max pressure might help. Should I try reducing it until I find a point where the central apneas are being reduced while keeping the obstructive events low? My current range is 8-10 Can I try 8-9? RE: Need Help New to CPAP high CA - SarcasticDave94 - 05-28-2024 As is, the AutoSet median pressure is 9.3. There's indications in the pressure graph the machine wants to go higher than 10, signified by the line being at or near the top most of the time. I probably wouldn't reduce pressure, but you can if you want to. It may not affect Centrals but I'm sure the other events will end up higher. RE: Help Needed with CPAP Therapy/OSCAR data – High Central Apneas - Phaleronic - 05-28-2024 Welcome to the forum SleepAd2 A quick suggestion is to raise your min pressure to 9cm, max pressure to 12cm, turn epr up to 2. It looks like the CAs are a little clustered so they could be caused by chin tucking or a pillow that is too thick... Day 10. Need Help Getting My Settings Right - SleepAd2 - 06-01-2024 Hi everyone, I’ve been on CPAP therapy for about 10 days and have been tweaking the parameters on my machine, but I haven’t been able to get my AHI below 3.5 (it’s mostly around 5). I’m seeking help from anyone who might have insights on what changes I could make to my current settings to hopefully get better rest. Thank you in advance!
