Will talking with my mask on and machine monitoring air flow, will talking mimic a leak?

RE: leak - sauerkraut - 05-30-2024

fred vanderburg;
I would expect that moving facial muscles while talking would cause leaks ..
opening Your mouth with a nasal pillow mask produces a large leak, The reason
for chin straps and mouth tape while sleeping ..
In the case of the Resmed F-20 I use it is a certainty ..
The mask providers could learn a considerable amount about preventing mask leaks
by studying half mask respirator and commerical/military gas mask design ..
Both are made to enable voice communication while wearing ..
Especially for full face cpap masks !! By including a chin cup in the design !!
Having used both the military M-13 And M-40 masks for extended periods of time ..
The M-40 in a lethal atmosphere .. They were more comfortable and sealed perfectly
Why the cpap mask manufactures have so much trouble with mask sealing just
boggles My mind !!

Good luck

I can talk in my F40 without registering a leak, but I might be registering a snore.
