Interpreting Data for simple CPAP - Boodmaster - 06-06-2024

Hey all, my dad has been on a cpap for years until his broke. I had gotten an extra one for my wife when she was pregnant, an autoset, and he's using it now. I've been on ASV since 2017, my pressures are pretty locked in thanks to a few choice individuals here.

I have a few days snapshots of my dads Cpap, he's feeling groggy and wants me to take a look into his stuff. I'll attach it here. I know he for sure needs an increase, but wanted to put it here to get some opinions first. I just got him a chin strap since he's using nasal, he said his throat is dry. Leaks aren't great, I'll probably end up getting him an F20.

He has a little crappy travel cpap, it's older, doesn't have an SD slot.

The data we're looking at here is from an autoset for her, no ramp, no EPR, min4 / max6. Any help would be great!

 Thanks

added attachment for yearly stat.

Hi Boodmaster,

He's getting lots and lots of flow limits and it's because the pressure is too low. Please raise the min pressure to 8cm set EPR to fulltime on 3 and raise max pressure to 10cm, have him try this out for 30 to 40 minutes before bed to see what he thinks Smile

As Phaleronic said, he needs to increase his pressure to deal with the events, and use EPR to help with the flow limitations.

The reasoning behind it is that he needs more pressure to help with not just the hypopnoea and obstructive events, but to also deal with the snoring. EPR will help resolve the flow limitations by dropping the exhale pressure.

Other things to consider is if he is using a big fluffy pillow, get a flatter pillow. Anything that can reduce the kinks in the airway will help with the flow limitations. Same thing if he has clogged nostrils, a nasal spray like Flonase can help.

He does have some leaks going on which are likely mouth leaks,  but one problem at a time. If he has not changed out his pillows and headgear in a while, that is a simple first step to reduce leaks.
