SonjaAHI41 - Therapy Thread - SonjaAHI41 - 05-30-2024

[attachment=64862][attachment=64861]Hello.
Thank you for welcoming me to your forum.

I am from Croatia (Europe) and i apologize for my English.
Due to my very high blood pressure i went to a private clinic for Polysomnography 7 months ago.
We have only one hospital specialized in Sleep Disorders in our country, the wait is up to a year.
Only in this hospital do they perform examinations for more then 5 days.

I slept in the private clinic one night for the polysomnography and the second night with the CPAP mask.
All that was done by the nurses, i didn't even see the specialist, he just sent me all the information via e-mail.
I did not receive any asistence or advice from physicians.
I went to the specialized store and they gave me a machine and mask.
AND THAT WAS IT.

I don't have a home care provider or trained  health care specialist.
Today i went to the machine provider to read my card and he sent it to my e-mail (they can't read the data).
Now i have to wait another 4 to 6 months to see a pulmonologyst???
I see that you are giving very good advice so i would appreciate it if someone could help me.
Thank you.

Hi SonjaAHI41!  -  Welcome

I have split your post out into its own thread.  We prefer that each member have their own thread for therapy help.   This allows a reader to see your history in one place and prevents hijacking another member's thread.  Please post all your therapy related issues here.  I have renamed it to, SonjaAHI41 - Therapy Thread.

Welcome to Apnea Board. This is my first encounter with the Hoffrichter CPAP, but the data provided seems pretty straight-forward, but not very recent. Your settings are minimum pressure 6.0, maximum pressure 18.0 with an exhale pressure relief (iPR) of 2. Your median pressure is 5.5 and the 95% pressure is 9.3. My first suggestion is to turn off ramp which starts from a pressure of 4.0 for 20 minutes. Your therapy pressure is reasonably low, and you probably don't need the ramp. A lot of your therapy sessions were very fragmented, especially prior to January, so the ramp resulted in very little actual time at therapy pressure at that time. Since January to the end of record, your therapy seems intermittent with missing days and relatively few hours of use.

It would help to hear your feedback of therapy, and why you seem to have short usage times with CPAP. Your AHI is acceptable, but without more time in therapy, you won't realize much benefit. We need to find what prevents you from achieving a consistent 6 to 7 hours per night of use, and then help you to optimize that. Your pressure range can be set from minimum 6.0 to maximum 10.0 based on the summary statistics.

Thanks a lot.

I have problem with my mask. I put it on when i go sleep but it falls of during the night.
Maybe I'm too restless in my sleep so I accidentally take it off.
I often wake up in a panic and then take off the mask myself because I feel
like I'm suffocating.
I ordered another mask online ResMad AirFit F20 For Her QuietAir  full face
but I'm not sure if it will fit to the my CPAP machine.
You can't try on masks here, you can only order them and buy.
My biggest mistake was taking the device they offered me ,Hoffrichter-Bauerfeind group
which rarely fits masks from other manufacturers (brands).
i didn't know anything about it then  Dont-know

RE: SonjaAHI41 - Therapy Thread - Sleeprider - 05-30-2024

Most CPAP devices use a universal 22 mm mask fitting, so you should have a wide variety of masks that will work with your device. Many members here use the Airfit F20, and a newer mask the Resmed Airfit F40 full-face has proven very popular. If you look it up you will see it uses a mouth cup and nasal pillows rather than a covering of the bridge of the nose.

I 'am very appreciation for your help,

Unfortunately my tube Type are 15mm
Dont-know
I'am trying to find some kind of attachment to
connect the tube to the mask.

The mask I have does not fit me at all.
I tighten the belts to the maximum, but
I's releases air with every movement of the body.
I didn't take it off,but I didn't sleep last night either.

P.S. The terapy Mode is APAP.
It's ok?

Device and mask is Hoffrichter-Bauerfeind group

Best regards

Tubing can be 15 mm, but the ends are generally 22 mm. If not, then check out a 15-22 mm adapter. https://www.amazon.com/Mars-Wellness-BiPAP-Tubing-Adapter/dp/B08JH5TYFT

RE: SonjaAHI41 - Therapy Thread - Sleeprider - 05-31-2024

Sorry it is so much more difficult there.

RE: SonjaAHI41 - Therapy Thread - HalfAsleep - 05-31-2024

You might find a US online seller that ships abroad, and has a 30 day warranty if you don't like the mask. You'd have to send it back, but it might be worth it, since they aren't heavy. There's a list of online CPAP stores on the Apneaboard somewhere.

I use a Resmed F40 and love it. If you are able, get it with a "fitkit" that has different sizes with it. I don't know if one is available for this mask, though. Get an adapter for your hose...

You can watch YouTube videos from LankyLefty to get an idea how each mask works. I find him very helpful.
