Soft Cervical Collar Might Be Causing Jaw Pain - gamestar32 - 07-25-2024

Morning All,

Curious if anyone else has had this experience and has a solution. I started using a soft cervical collar a few weeks ago and noticed amazing results as far as leaks were concerned. Unfortunately, over the last few days, I've noticed that my jaw pops when I chew and I get an occasional soreness as well. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't think the collar is too big based on the size charts from Amazon, but I've learned never to take what I read there at face value.

You may have TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder.   Just do a search here clicking on the "Search" box at the top of the page and/or do an internet search on it for some basic information.  I used, "TMJ jaw popping" in our search and got many hits for good threads to read.

I have several different sizes and shapes of collars.  I am glad that you have found more success in your sleep apnea treatment using a collar, but there are many different designs of collars out there on the market.  Some straight, some curved, some cut out, etc.  I hope you find one that will help your sleep apnea and is tolerable as well.
