Help me Optimise my APAP machine - didkosv - 07-26-2024 Hi, guys lets tell about me. I am 28 years old male and i live in UK. From nearly a decade i was experiencing waking up a few times per night and overall i never felt refreshed. Also i snored but i never thought i might have a sleep disorder. Over time it progressed and it become harder to motivate myself to go to work. So before 2 years i decided to made a private sleep study and i was diagnosed with Mild OSA or more likely UARS. The AHI was 6.5. I bought APAP Lowenstein Prisma SmartMax. It was easy for me to start sleeping with full face mask. I was hoping that it will help me significantly but actually it helped me partly so i can work and not feel so bad like before. The symptoms are- Fatigue, Brainfog, Bad memory, Dificult to concentrate, Imposible to study, Bad cognition, Yawning all the time. Before 1 year ago i had a sleep study with NHS and i had low AHI- 6 so most likely i have UARS In the begining of June i had a Tonsillectomy cuz i really had bigger tonsils -Grade 3. Unfortunately i dont feel better. Even i feel worse than before. The thing that i feel changed is after i got my tonsils removed my mouth get less dry in the morning from the APAP I am glad that OSCAR already support my APAP machine and i will be very glad that i get my therapy optimised and i feel better. In the future i will get DISE and probably i could get another surgery but this wont happen anytime soon. I am open to any advice you have what i can try if it could help my condition and what settings to try on my APAP. Thanks in advance ..... RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - HalfAsleep - 07-26-2024 A couple of things… Would you mind putting the Oscar charts in Apneaboard’s preferred layout? It goes in a certain order, and in one screen shot. See menu for instrux. This will encourage more posters to respond, since they can see pertinent data quickly. Could you make some observations about your sleeping position? Pillows? Side or back? Dog hogging the bed, etc? RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - didkosv - 07-26-2024 Hi, my machine is different than Resmed and it measure more things so let me know from the left side which things are important(CheyneStroke Respiration, Large Leak, Clear Airways, Obstructive Apnea etc.) and from the right side which chart are important( Event flags, Flow rate, Pressure, Flow rate etc) I will try to remove the unneeded things and after that will upload better screenshot. Also i dont have pets. I sleep on my back and I turn my head to one side. The thing is that my mattress is not firm and my body sink in the mattress which i dont think is good. Also i use 2 pillows and my head is a little bit raised.I plan in the next few months to buy a new mattress which is firm and my body dont sink. RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - Narcil - 07-26-2024 Looks like sleeping on your back is causing positional apnea. more info here but raising pressure won't solve events, you need to try and improve your sleeping position. Sounds like a firmer mattress might help indeed, sinking in the mattress could cause chin tuck? And you want as few pillows as possible for the same reason. RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - HalfAsleep - 07-27-2024 I totally agree with @narcil. A little experiment…. I would record an Oscar with your current bed configuration for one night, and then remove one pillow and record another Oscar for the next night. Screenshot both and post here. We’ll see what happens! IME sleeping position is hard to change, but there are other adjustments to make that might help out. RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - didkosv - 07-28-2024 Hi, So i started using only 1 pillow which is not firm so my head is not raised at all.I think that its better like that but not too sure..Also for sure after 1 month i will buy a firm mattress which will be better for my sleep and also i have slight kyphosis so i need to sleep on firmer mattress. I attach a screenshot of yesterday night sleep. I cant make a screenshot on which you can see the whole stats in oscar because i have 14" laptop and thats why I dont see it much different than previous nights but I can still change some settings if you have any suggestions. Thanks RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - Expat31 - 07-28-2024 Try these screen settings, it may help. RE: Help me Optimise my APAP machine - didkosv - 07-30-2024 Hi, thanks for the advice regarding the settings. This screenshot is from last night. AHI 3.94 I want to say that since a little kid my nose is a little bit problematic. I am a guy that always have pocket tissues when leaving my home. Its common for me to clean my nose from some discharge or boogers but i dont have runny nose. Sometimes i have blocked nose but not that i cant breathe. What kind of spray i can use before bedtine to see if there will be some reduction of the Flow Limitations. Also do you think that i can increase the minimum pressure a little bit.Any advice will be appreciated. |
