Wellue or Contec - vlahmapoutras - 09-26-2024 Hi I have recently been diagnosed with (mild) sleep apnea and have been using the SomnoDent Classic oral splint. I would like to check my oxygen levels during sleep. I had no idea about the oximeter market until now, and luckily (and thanks to this forum) I avoided getting the Oura ring which clearly is not optimum for my case. Now I cannot decide between the Wellue Checkme O2 and the Contec CMS50I. I am mostly intrerested in accuracy of measurement since they are not using the same sensor. Any help/recommendation would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance RE: Wellue or Contec - Crimson Nape - 09-26-2024 Hi vlahmapoutras! - This is a toss up. Also, it depends on how long you are planning to use this device. Both have a +/- 4% accuracy of the reading disclaimer. Budget wise, the Contec if favored. For reliability, the Wellue is the go-to. I have both brands. The Contec (both I and F models) screen washed out after the first year of use. As the image degraded, you had to view its screen in lower or no light, but it still worked. The Wellue (SleepU in my case) has been in use for over 3 years without any problems. For me, the Wellue sensor has a more positive attachment to the finger than the Contec. Additionally, the higher priced Wellue provides software for Window, Mac, Android, and iOS operating systems. Contec only provides a Windows only app. Good luck on your decision, - Red RE: Wellue or Contec - vlahmapoutras - 09-26-2024 (09-26-2024, 09:41 AM)Crimson Nape Wrote: Hi vlahmapoutras! - Thank you for the quick reply. My main worry about the Wellue is that it does not utilize the classic/established fingertip sensor that all medical oximeters in a hospital have and thus I am not sure if it can be that accurate. I also read the following thread that kinda confirmed my doubts www .apneaboard. com/forums/Thread-Equipment-Wellue-Checkme-Max-O2-Watch?highlight=wellue Have you had the chance to test your SleepU accuracy versus a well calibrated device? RE: Wellue or Contec - Crimson Nape - 09-26-2024 All oximeters I've compared them to, included a hospital oximeter, and the doctor's office unit. All report the same values. To me, that is a non-starter. There are no calibration tests used on any of the oximeters I used for comparison, this includes the hospital's unit. When asked about their calibration frequency and testing methods, I was informed they don't have any. They rely on the manufacture's statement. A person's pigment, and condition of the sensoring area plays a big part in its results. You will definitely get different values, even thought they could actually be the same, between a soft, non-callused hand and that of, let's say, a bricklayer. While the value is important, you should be concerned in the overall trend of the data, too. - Red RE: Wellue or Contec - vlahmapoutras - 09-27-2024 Thank you so much for the time spent for such a detailed reply. Other differences I found between the two are the perfusion index measuring of Contec, the motion recording and longer lasting battery of Wellue. I will think over it and hopefully reach a conclusion soon. RE: Wellue or Contec - Crimson Nape - 09-27-2024 While the perfusion index and movement reporting are "W-o-o-o-o" features, I have yet to find any useful purpose for them in an analytical nature. - Red RE: Wellue or Contec - cdplatt - 09-27-2024 Wellue displays the perfusion index in the phone app. I've only used it to see which finger gives the higher number, but all indicate a perfusion index above .4; the minimum level for reliable results. RE: Wellue or Contec - vlahmapoutras - 09-29-2024 Thank you for all the replies. I just ordered the Wellue Checkme O2. PS For anyone interested in ordering, I contacted Wellue asking for a valid discount code and they provided "R20" which gave me a 20% discount (final price 159 $). |
