Help with cervical colar - Lanners - 09-29-2024

Bought a cervical colar and tried for first night. I am choking, coughing quite a bit. Loosened colar. Didn't help.

Plus side-it did keep my mouth closed, but, unlike mouth tape, when i was choking i could open it. This seems promising so I want to figure out how to choose a better collar.

I am thinking it may be too firm. Also maybe I measured my neck wrong.??? I have a long skinny neck. I measured height 4.5 inches. Highest i could buy was 3.5 inches, and now that feels too high. But maybe because it is too firm.???

Do you have suggestions on shopping for a different one? Can a softer collar keep my chin up?

The height is the most important. The height is the distance from your chin to your sternum.   The tightness should be controlled with the Velcro.

i tried a few different collars until settling on the caldera releaf. a lot of the tan, stiff ones created problems. one so much as to me thinking i had collapsed my esophagus.

the releaf height can be somewhat (read: a little) adjusted because of the pleat in the bottom section.

i had just posted earlier in the week what happens when i don't wear it. i'm a back sleeper, and the releaf, in conjunction with a pillow it took me many tries to find, has/have really reduced my chin tucking.
