flow limitation due to poistion ? - obstructedairway101 - 10-22-2024

Bad narrowing of air flow wave form noted. Is this due to position such as chin tucking ?This seems to happen most nights. If im having flow limitation why doesnt my machine compensate as I rarely reach my max mask pressure? examples below

You probably need to provide an unzoomed out version so people can get the big picture of whats happening.

Sure thanks. One of these was just a nap i had during the day so may not be able to get much data from that but still can see some flow limitation? THanks for your input

doesnt look too bad for me, apart from the last few mins of your kip.. maybe you chin tucked then. Worth trying a collar if youre unsure.

I don't see any chin tucking.  They usually show as a cluster of O or H events, and you didn't have that.  I would not worry about one day with funny  flow limits showing up.

I don’t normally disagree with Deborah, but I think you have nailed the problem. Obstructed breathing can appear as OA or flow limitation, and the pattern you have already identified is classic positional apnea, but expressed as FL. Our wiki on positional apnea covers this. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=Optimizing_therapy#Positional_Apnea
